Description
Drew this the other night before I went to bed. Been wanting to draw it since I read Issue 11 of IDW's Color Classics - the colorized reprints of the original Mirage series. In that issue, troubled by her and her friends' circumstances, April is out walking. She doesn't realize she's treading on lake ice 'til she hears it crack beneath her feet. What I find interesting about the whole little scene that follows is the fact that it's not Mikey, or Donnie, or even Raphael that comes to April's rescue. Noo, it's good ol' reliable Leonardo! XDOkay, so lemme just make it clear here that I'm not a fan of AprilXLeo. (I don't approve of O'Neil having an in-love relationship with any of the turtles actually - at least not while human.) But I do like, for whatever reason, the cute little interactions April and Leo have had throughout the course/history of the franchise. -This is probably why I enjoyed the "Eyes of the Chimera" episode.-
Tee hee... X3
Anyway, in the original comic, Leo is shown carrying April back to the farmhouse after pulling her frosty buttinski from the freezing lake water. I thought it was a very cute little moment! Unfortunately it's only a small image and they're seen only from behind.
Here I decided to change Leo's duds to his 'Vision Quest' attire instead of going with what he was actually wearing in the comic - which looked a bit funny to me (esp. the hat).
Of course, Leo's VQ shoulder cloak is a bit too small to shelter our shivering April, so I made its length somewhere between that and his Ghost of the Jungle cloak. XP - I don't think he actually covered her with anything in the original...

The background is just a bit of experimentation, and is actually drawn with the same brush. I love having such variety in a single brush! It came in this pack, which is worth buying: fav.me/d996a88

Nicely done!
One of my favorite scenes in the original series and of course, April with her curly black hair. One of my favorite (and of original) April versions.
I am such a fan of your designs of the turtles, thank you for drawing them again!

You leave such great comments! Heehee! I'm pleased as punch to know my style of drawing the turtles is so appreciated.
I really wanted to develop a unique style when I started out drawing TMNT fan art (back in 2012), and I adored the look of the 2007 movie. So that's what I decided the basis of my turtle designs would be.
Thanks again for your supportive compliments!

So cute and I love how you did Leo's mask, did you use pencil?

I do love shading by hand! But no, for this, it was all drawn digitally on my laptop.
I bought a 100+ brush set from a fellow Deviant, and there are a wonderful variety of brushes for the effects used in this pic!
