Description I had nearly lost you, and looking at you then I almost could not stand you. How good you were, how tender and how passionate. Almost immaculate even...
As you lay there in the dark, your mind clean of all the dark shadows that had chased you, and your body finally resting as it should be, I came closer to you then I ever should have. And you did not know it then, you couldn't have known it, but as you lay there in the total darkness and I stood watch over you, I nearly... kissed you.

So, I tink this is the follow up, or even, the sequel if you want to use that term, of this piece [link] .

For those of you who are wondering, that's as far as Best ever got that night, and that was even really pushing it for him. And no, he hasn't been redesigned, and yes, that look is also cannon.

Biest and Cosette belong to me, no stealing.

Oh so close. This story and the characters are very well drawn out. I love the originality and effort you put forth into your story.
It's not just the same old "Beauty and the Beast" story as I have read from other writers.
This is absolutely stunning!

Thank you so much I am very touched that you think they are original because I tried very hard to make them different from the other versions I'd seen and read. Thank you so much!

Yea, you did a marvelous job. Other versions I've read always have some tie to the Disney version, and I have searched for something new and fresh...and you definitely hit the nail on the head!
Prez-Liz's story "Luc's Hope" has it's own originality to it as well. You both have the kind of stories I have been looking for. Keep up the great work!
I hope you could get this published, because it is so well written! I would definitely buy a copy!

Yes, it bothers me how heavily people steal from the Disney version or the Cocteau film and I've tried very hard to avoid doing that. Have you ever heard of "Beastly" by Alex Flinn? It's probably one of the better adaptations I've read, definitely the best published one that's been done in a while - [link] . "Beauty" by Robin McKinley is also a stellar read, and I think it's probably the best published retelling of the tale in English - [link]

Indeed, Liz's stuff is great too Lol, though I'll wager you can figure that out form my fanart .

I hope you don't mind me making all these suggestions, I just love finding other "Beauty and the Beast" fans

I definitely am hoping to get this published one day. I'd like to have it as a heavily illustrated YA novel, since as I'm sure you might have guessed by now, drawing will play a large role in it as the story progresses.

I never got the chance to finish "Beauty" by Robin McKinley, but I really hope to.
I have heard of "Beastly" and I have read about it like on wikipedia.org! It sounds like an adaption from the Disney, but it's more from the Beast's point of view and sounds like, even though it's based from the Disney, one of those with it's own twist to it.
Did you even know that there is a "Beastly" movie coming out. It's based off of the novel basically, and some of the characters are a little different and the 'Beast' is way different from the books point of view. But I must say I do like who they picked for some of the characters.

I am a HUGE "Beauty and the Beast" fan. Not just original tales, but any kind of story with a Beauty and a Beast haha.

It's no problem with all of the suggestions. I'll take anything involving a BeautyBeast tale.

I hope to publish a novel as well someday, with my own originalities. But as of now I am only 15, and very young with not much originality, but I know I want to write a story of my own someday.

Again your characters are nothing like other Beauties and Beasts I've read about. You've got your own thing![link]

I will admit that "Beauty" starts slow, but when you get to the last 50 pages or so it all pays off. It's quite the ride and it's definitely worth it.

You know, I came into "Beastly" with pretty low hopes, and then ended up being blown away. Alex Flinn really knew how to actually make you hate the Beast at first and then make you really sympathetic towards him. I quite fancy it too simply because I really liked the heroine, she wasn't some kind of 'kick-asser" but she was sweet, and brave and intelligent and all in all quite adorable. The side characters are really compelling as well. Kyle/Adrian's voice really is what makes this story though, it's so well done.

I took a gander at your page and noticed that you seem to like "Twilight", I've met many a fan of that series who enjoyed "Beastly" as well. I assure you, that though it is written for a YA audiance, it never really follows the Disney cannon (or the Cocteau's thankfully, though Flinn claimed she imagined Jean Marai's beast as Adrian)

(Sorry, please forgive the ranting, I love this stuff it's so exciting!)

Even though you are young I would urge you to write your stories! I would wager you have far more originality than you think you do, and age doesn't indicate talent. Write what you feel strongly about, even if it doesn't seem important, or cool, or original, I assure you, that's the best way to make writing that is meaningful. Write about what you feel strongly about, what matters to you. I think you can do it

And thanks once again for your lovely compliments, I definitely appreciate them

Hahaha, I can't stop laughing at 'kick-asser' haha.

I think I would really like reading those stories. Yup I'm a Twilight fan...just not those crazy ones O_O...that gets a little scary.

I understand...I would probably rant on and on about something I loved until someone said "SHUTUP" and I would probably keep on talking lol.

That's what I needed to hear. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey there! Sorry for the late, late response to this. I'm still catching up a bit with moving in, lol, it's still a bit crazy over here. The story looks great! I already read through it and enjoyed it, I plan on leaving you some feedback once I get a bit more free time later on this week. Glad to see you back online.

DAMN YOU . Now I have an unbelievable urge to write a Beauty and the Beast story! Now it won't leave me alone! Meanie . *flails weakly at the urge* Noooo story idea I don't have time for you! I need to get ready for Nanowrimo!

Beautiful. I think the sketchiness only adds to the concept. If you even inked it I hope that aspect wouldn't get lost. It gives one the feeling that he is doing something wrong and feels bad about.

I'm, I'm sorry! I didn't know! I shall be more careful with my BatB stuff in the future!

I think I'll keep it as a sketch, though I may darken it and work on the values a little. I very much like your take on what "Biest" (intentionally spelled wrong) is feeling. Thanks very much

It's things like this that especially remind me how much this story intrinsically connects to me. I'm as excited about it as if I were writing it myself. It's the sort of true romance that's worth examining in the world, and reminds me of what I really value in art and in life.

Anyway, <3! How are your school projects going?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Rosengeist In reply to Idelen [2008-09-26 22:20:03 +0000 UTC]

That really means a lot coming from you, especially since you've read a lot of the stuff I'm now rather embarrassed about.

I've always thought it was one of the more sophisticated fairy tales that existed, and I agree that it ought to be examined more, though unfortuneately it's often brushed off as simply an allegory for an abusive relationship. (Though I think that's just taking it at face value and does little to really look at the archetype.)

My school projects are doing great, I'm totally in love with two of the projects I'm working on, even if they are massively time consuming.
