Don't think too hard about this one you guys. You may be looking at this thinking "Zomg! That's a kiss she's giving him!" Well, go ahead, eat up that warm, gooey theory because I'm about to go smash it with a sledgehammer. When this does happen, it's decidedly unromantic.Oh, yes, and I should mention, Cosette is a bit dirty because she has ash on her face and hands.
She's ridiculously, giddily, stupidly happy here, despite her tears, and Biest is ridiculously, morbidly, stupidly depressed here (when is he not really?). He has good reason, and she has good reason, the reasoning is hence, quite sound, but it will not be revealed to you for some time.
Anyway, Biest and Cosette and the rest of "BatB" belong to me, no stealing. Trust me, the reasoning behind this is sound.

Hmmm...well...maybe this will make some more sense if you know the set-up for it. Which sadly, I can't tell you. Though, I will say that Biest does get kissed a few times before the end o' the tale. Kisses don't always mean anything, and to my mind, sometimes it's easy to misread what certain actions mean when your emotionally confuddled.
It needs to be a large green teddy with horns!
