Sorry when did the hawk people become amazing, I didn't know about the ethereal avian spirit...but it does make sense now that I consider some things I learned from DC universe online. I love the long history and also the cruel destiny trap of death, seriously DC do wonders with the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans etc. I love the interactions with Hall and babs, nice to know how social these peeps all are with each other.

But when it comes to Israel and its aspect of the supernatural, there's the high propability of slander and discrediting the eye-witness accounts, and the true nature of humankind.

So often, in fiction, the gods of the gentile nations are glorified and given so much praise; but when it comes to the God of the Israelites, there's the high likelihood that writers barely base Him according to the Bible (the collection of books written by eye-witness accounts from different backgrounds that unify into a single message of the redemption plan unto humanity through Jesus Christ), but rather to their vain understanding, going to lengths of defamation without even knowing or choosing not to know what happens after their death.

They never were ethereal until Earth-27. This was the method I used to pay homage to their many different iterations and untangle the "Hawksnarl" (a word created simply as a means of describing the cluster**** that is their backstory).
I am really glad you like it. I worked really hard for months coming up with this concept for the Hawks because I knew if I could make him work, then Earth-27 was meant to be.

this might be a naive question: but i haven't seen a dark-skinned hawkman before, is this a new 52 thing or a creative choice made by you? because with the yellow when i first saw the upload without reading the title i thought this was luke cage from marvel (not to stereotype but he's also muscular and wears yellow so that was me just silly assuming)
i don't mind him in this style/look/race/etc. (as there are reincarnations i believe he goes through - at least that's what i understand from the CW show -- though i like the idea of him and Hawkwoman being aliens/Thanagarians) just curious if this was your choice or if that's how he is in earth27 (as i'm not well versed in this universe either, gosh i need to educate myself on my dc again)

This is an E27 original idea.
The reason for this... well, there's a few.
-So many people think Hawkman is an out of date character and by making him more reflective of modern society, I believe that would help counter this sentiment.
-Also DC has played with the character so much and there are so many inconsistencies in his story that giving him a fresh spin, would help wash away all that editorial stain on the character and help sell that Earth-27's Hawkman is his own character.
-And of course, I am always interested in making the world seem more cohesive and whole, and adding diversity to it, has always been a staple of Earth-27
-Finally, in Earth-27, Hawkman and Hawkwoman are part human and part Thanagarian. Basically, they are humans with immortal Thanagarian spirits fused with their souls. Because of this, their ethnicity is not a core facet of the character. The Thanagarian spirit chooses a fit, young host upon the death of its previous host. There is no blood relation to the previous incarnation required in Earth-27 as this is not any sort of quasi-reincarnation.

ooooooo so complex!! i love it - very well thought out
and i love adding diversity - it's such a huge part of good world building and cohesion!!
and i love the part Thanagarian spirit concept - very refreshing!! is that connected to their egyptian past bit?

Yes, part of the reason I did it this way was to combine elements of all their different iterations.

Do they, like, pick up on their knowledge like at one point they were ninjas in Japan?

Roysovitch In reply to TheScarletMercenary [2016-09-27 01:53:32 +0000 UTC]
Every death, their previous lives' memories dull a little due to the shock of dying and the process of joining a new host is also jarring. The longer they are in a host, the more they remember about their past lives... especially if they do something to jog their memory... like visiting a place they've been before or reclaiming their weapons for the first time as a new host... and so on.
So, assuming they were ninjas at one point (which is a good possibility, possibly inspiring legends of the 'tengu'), and they visited a shrine in the modern day where they professed their love at in ancient Japan, they may recover some of their martial arts expertise or recall the time they killed an evil daimyo.

Interesting take on their origin. Also isn't he a little old to be a member of Gen-2 Teen Titans? Because according to what you said about the Gen-2 Titans, he would have been Hawkboy in his early 20s.

Yeah, they were born in 1988. They joined the Titans in 2005 (when they were 17) which was about two years after they were fused with their Thanagarian essences. They didn't leave the Titans to head out on their own until 2008 (when they were 20), making them the last two holdouts of the second generation... and mentors to a few other early entrees into the Gen-3 Titans.

You know, I just realized that with his new look, Carter resembles a certain other ex of Shiera's.
Turning the Thanagarians into an etheral race is definitely a nice way to try to combine the two ideas. It does seem to get rid of the Thanagarians' role as DC's Klingons, but I can't say I'll personally miss them too much.

Carter wasn't intentionally made to look like John Stewart's animated look, but it is a happy coincidence (and maybe subconsciously influenced) as I did like their pairing in JL... though, I did like John being with Vixen, too.

I'm curious, what's your reasoning behind having them be Teen Titans first as Hawkgirl & Hawkboy? Also with Ted Kord and Booster Gold. Because as far as I know that hasn't been done anywhere else before and those changes seem to be the biggest that E27 has.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Roysovitch In reply to Alexander514 [2016-09-26 21:54:05 +0000 UTC]
Hawkboy was a way to acknowledge "Hawkgirl" and be equal opportunity to the pair. And them being Hawkboy and Hawkgirl, it seemed like they should fit in with the Titans... just like Karen Starr's Supergirl and the rest of that team that went on to call themselves something else when they became their own heroes.
Also, putting them in the Titans gave me a chance to make that generation of the Titans more than just "The Sidekicks' Lounge". Same with Booster and Blue. As for those two, it gives me a place to explore their goofier days but as teenagers getting into shenanigans rather than giving the impression that they weren't real superheroes which is a problem some fans had with their Justice League International representations (even though I rather enjoyed the levity of those those).
As for changes, I don't know if it's one of E27's biggest, but it is one of those that does distinguish Earth-27 from normal DC Canon.
