So batman travels around the world from a very young age to train to become batman and all Barbra does is karate and Poof! she's batgirl?

Also, the daughter of cops. Further, she is a technical genius. Granted that does not put her on Batman's level, but with hardwork and dedication (and additional training by Batman), it does give her a foundation to build on.
Part of the reason that Bruce brought her on to his team was to give her a chance at survival because he recognized if she did that on her own, she would be dead.

Clever girl sneaking in the back the back of the patrol car to find out what's going on. Having her fangirl over the Batcomputer and drool on her keyboard thinking about, priceless! No mention of her eidetic memory but, I guess a girl has to have some secrets.
A chat transcript between her and Riddler or Calculator would be interesting.
