Description
Photoshop CS2Done for CGTalk contest. Had to take a plate of a museum and turn into a natural setting so I chose a cavern/cave type thing. Hope you like it!
Holy crud, I've never been featured so a big thanks to Deviant for it! I've never seen so many messages! Thanks to all the nice things said too. The museum was a plate provided of the Natural History Museum of London for those who were wondering.

SWEET!!! I just love this kind of pictures. They hav that mystical feeling to them that's so inspiring. Also it kind's reminds me of the Temple of Time or Light or whatever (can't remember) in Zelda Twilight Princess. Simply amazing. Great shading, texture coloring, EVERYTHING!!!

You did something fantastic! Not just because it's photorealistic, but it has its own atmosphere.
Plus I've just seen I Am Legeng, so this is a must have (or fav-ed)!

Fantasy maovies are all the rage at the moment, I wouldn't be too surprised if something like this was inone of them, very creative and well done. And it is pretty realistic too.

Haha, thanks! Well, basically had a plate which was sort of the right half, then concept painting, lots of photo refs to see what I wanted to turn it into. Then sort of squeezed stock photos and painted it all together. Just needs a lot of patience and a lot of masking. Thanks again to everyone. BTW: It didn't even place in the contest so there were some great entries.

Wow. Those had to of been some amazing entries! Don't sweat it though. For me, this is visually fascinating. I've always loved looking at things and thinking "what would this look like 1000 years from now if humans disappeared?" So to stumble upon this piece, imagine how inspiring it is for me!
I've got a long way till I can do something like this, but I'm grabbing every bit of info I can!

The detail is just amazing! The sounds of the waterfall and soft lighting makes this place serene, quiet and beautiful.
It doesn't really look like a museum. There would probably something on display or something, but anyways... this work is just stunning. How could such a beautiful such is this has been abandoned for a while? Makes me wonder what happened to those who lived here.
Btw, did you create everything just from scratch?

RQuack In reply to Melymbrosia [2007-06-26 04:25:03 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for the nice words! The contest was to take a plate of the NHM in England so the original plate did have stuff on display but I took them out. Most is from scratch, excluding the back and left walls which are the plate. The rest is paint and photos (mostly for textures).
