Description (Update 11/5/17: create.swf now runs in the proper frame rate.)
This application is to be used with create.swf extended .
Press F6 to capture what is in the window as a PNG file with proper transparency pixel data. If pressing F6 doesn't make a save menu pop up, try running it in Flash Player Projector .

To use this, download both this program and create.swf extended and put them both in the same folder, rename the create.swf extended file to "create" ("create.swf" if your filename extensions are enabled on your OS settings).
if you run PNGexporter and create.swf shows up then it is working and ready to be used.

With this program, you can grab graphics from create.swf without needing to manually remove the background or losing any color quality of semi-transparent objects/character parts.

If you cannot get this to run create.swf, you can try the online-enabled version of the program .

Did you try getting a new version of flash projector, and also the online version of PNGExporter?

I did downloaded the newest update from 29 to 30 and nothing. Also with that online version nothing worked at all.

I just tested with 27 and 31, and it worked. Is the window blank, or does it show the "create.swf not found" message?

Miik00 In reply to rsgmaker [2018-09-12 01:44:43 +0000 UTC]

The thing is that even with Create.swf and the PNGExtender in the same folder it still shows up the "create.swf not found" message...but when I renamed the Create.swf then it still shows the blank window...

You could try downloading the online enabled version and see if that works instead.

I did downloaded the online enabled version and all I get is this.

"create.swf was not found,
place create.swf in the same directory and run this program again.

The button below will only work if this file is set as "trusted", to trust this file, right click this window,
click Global Settings...->Advanced->Trusted Location Settings->Add->Add file,  select this file.
Now reopen this application, the button below should now work."

And in the rectangle there is the "Click here to load create.swf from an online source"

I did open create.swf in one Projector and I did opened the Exporter in another Projector...but after I press the rectangle it just shows only white background. F6 works, but nothing here shows up.

EDITED:

Ok you know what? Nevermind. I got it working. Thank you sir for helping me out. I owe you the one.

Uhm, just tried to check it out, but it says:

ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable JSON is not defined.
at lime.utils::AssetManifest$/parse()
at ManifestResources$/init()
at ApplicationMain$/create()
at ApplicationMain$/main()
at boot_de74/init()

Of course, create.swf is in the same directory.

Ah, oops. The solution was simple - just to update my Flash Player Projector 10 to Flash Player Projector 29. In the modern one everything is working.

(As create.swf and createX.swf both work normally in Projector 10, I couldn't suspect its version; even didn't know that Projector 10 is kinda outdated).

I got it to work finally!  To anyone else who's having problems, try this: don't name create.swf as "create.swf" instead simply name it "create" and it might work!

Hello. I really need your help. You see, I'm using SWiSHmax which is an abandonware Flash program made by a bankrupt company which released it for free with a keygen (their site is down, but in the Web Archive, they still have the notice and someone has a free download of the official keygen) and I'd like to make my own character maker program.

Unfortunately, SWiSHmax uses its own variation of ActionScript called SWiSHscript and it doesn't have the PNG export option to save my characters into semi-transparent PNG files. It does however have the option to print a section of the screen as a print job, but that doesn't really do what I want.

I'm wondering if your PNGExporter could let my players (who have a locked down PC like in a school with restricted downloading/installing exe/swf files) make their character in my Flash character maker made in SWiSHmax by embedding it into your program's window and if it could let the player press the F6 button to take a screenshot. My character maker should be available on deviantART, possibly also Newgrounds and Furaffinity. This means that I should publish your program, but which has a fixed URL to where my character maker can be hosted for hotlinking like that. I'm not sure where that would be. I'm not sure if direct linking to the character maker in Sta.sh would be possible since there could be some Captcha restriction or 503 Forbidden error made to prevent bots from spamming the link. Also, the background color of my SWiSHmax Flash files cannot be transparent. It's just white or something else. Could your program still be able to take a screenshot?

Could you please help me? What should I do?
Thank you for your time.

if the ActionScript variant has access to the features: bitmapdata and filereference. you can utilize the same technique to capture a window image and allow the user to save the captured image to their computer.
I uploaded a simplified version of the code here , it will capture everything within the movieclip the function runs in.

I'm sorry, but in the Help documentation, there is no PNG anywhere in scripting. It's very limited. But could you make a SWF file that's a wrapper for my SWF file so that when I run your wrapper, it loads my file into the main window and if the user presses F6, then your code for screenshot is executed? This needs to work online without having to download anything other than the PNG file.

Unfortunately, most websites that allow uploading of flash applications restrict external data from being loaded(I know for sure DeviantArt does this, it's a "sandbox" mode).
So you usually cant work with multiple .swf files.

I see. But can you import my swf file into your fla file with the screenshot feature and then export that as a single swf file?

Hi rsg. Sorry to say that this PNGExporter mod you made can't go 30 fps where all the create.swf even the extended get 30 fps.
The PNGExporter can only go to 28 fps. Why is that?

rsgmaker In reply to gervin51 [2017-11-05 21:40:31 +0000 UTC]

I simply put in the wrong frame rate(I assumed create.swf was using the default frame rate), it should be fixed now.

Wait a sec, is this the transparency thing that I  requested to you a while back, only instead of making a background to do that, you made a program instead? Because if so, thank you!

Someone else asked about something similar very recently, I managed to find a working example(the previous times I looked the PNGs turned out blank) of what I needed and it all worked out after that.

Could you post a quick video on You Tube showing how to do this? I'm not quite sure I follow the instructions.

put pngexporter in the same folder as create.swf(make sure it is named "create.swf"), if done correctly when you run pngexporter, create.swf should appear in the window. When you press F6 pngexporter takes a screenshot and brings up a save file dialog allowing you to select where the screenshot gets saved.

I've tried this. I've opened exporter, but create.swf will not open unless I open it.  I've tried opening create.swf first. I've tried opening create.swf first then exporter, I've tried restarting my computer. Every time pressing F6 does nothing.  Does the folder itself need to be called "create.swf"?

 this is what it should look like, if pressing F6 does nothing then there may be some security issue or something, are you using flash player projector?

I think I am.  I don't use create.swf through my browser.

Thank you for this, it will make animating a lot easier. Could you also make it so it will save all the parts as separate images at once?

I haven't seen any libraries that stand out to me to make .zip files, which would be needed to save multiple files in one command like what you're wanting, flash cannot automatically save any files, the user must utilize a menu for each and every file saved.
