Description
The UV-44 is one of the most important aerial vehicles for the republic. Recently integrated (7 years before the war), it had already shown excellent performance in counter-insurgency or rapid insertion operations.
It is widely valued in all branches of the republic's armed forces due to its great ability to adapt to the different requirements on the battlefield (it can go from carrying heavy and offensive weapons to transporting cargo and supplies efficiently).
Background: From the beginning the Republic had been interested in changing the propellers of the helicopters for jets, but the development and implementation would take almost half a century to be efficient.
The UV-44 is one of the vehicles that showed the best performance in this process, for which it would win the contract as the light VOTL of the Republic. Due to their short time in production and service, the numbers at the beginning of the war were very few and inferior, so they were used almost exclusively by special forces or elite infantry, who would take advantage of their full potential.
Armament:
FGR12 MA: It consists of an armored missile carrier, it carries up to 4 high-caliber anti-tank or anti-aircraft missiles, ideal for destroying armored targets. Its shape prevents the missiles from being by the bullets and shrapnel received and it has a rotor that helps with the launch of the missiles.
SPM-2: Anti-tank missiles with incredible capabilities, its large caliber and integrated AI allow it to destroy any vehicle, no matter how many defensive systems it has. Its anti-air capability is limited, but at close range it is also lethal to enemy ships.
M145 AGM: An automatic grenade launcher, it functions as the vehicle's anti-infantry hammer due to its high firepower. It is operated by passengers and is mounted on the vehicle doors.
Small caliber multi-barreled machine guns can also be mounted in the same position.
M56 HCM: A somewhat controversial addition, it consists of the main weapon of this vehicle. It is a configuration of the M56 heavy machine gun that fires at a higher rate of fire while maintaining controlled temperature and ballistic capabilities.
Despite its unimposing caliber, the high rate of fire and special ammunition put it on par with other larger caliber machine gunners, being able to damage and even destroy lightly armored personnel carriers, fortified positions and targets that do not require the valuable SPM-2 missiles. Its low weight and ammo capacity also helped designate it as the Night Crow version's main weapon.
