Uploading so I can use it as a thumbnail in Talen's reference sheet deviation. Background color chosen because it matches my site, though I changed it to blue for the feature in Talen's art folder .
Talk about a crash course in animation. 3 nonstop hours and well over 200 layers with 54 frames later, this monster is finally done! Oh, and of course my tablet is malfunctioning right now so I did it all with the touchpad--lemme tell you, that was not kind to my touchpad-induced carpal tunnel. >.> There's a few rough patches here and there, things shifting that weren't supposed to, but it's way too buried to try and fix now and I'm plenty happy with how the overall crossbow animation worked out!
This right-handed gauntlet has a simple metal plate on top engraved with the Order of the Black Cloaks' sigil. If traced by the owner's fingerprint, it'll crack apart and the crossbow will emerge. There are three modes, hence "trishot," and you flip between them by rotating the wheel to the corresponding color, centralized around the large button that will release the active bolt if triggered with the owner's finger specifically. Green is the dart, tipped in poison or sleeping potion or some other sort of agent; orange is the hookshot (where the inconspicuous tip splits apart into the claw); blue is the respawning arrow made of pure light, crackling like electricity.
