Description
Regions transported: Russia (Samara time), Georgia (exc. Abkhazia, South Ossetia), Azerbaijan, Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, UAE, Oman, Seychelles, Mauritius, RΓ©union, French Southern and Antarctic Lands (Crozet Islands, Glorioso Islands, Tromelin Island)Physically separated from the oblasts to its south by virgin wilderness, the Udmurt Republic had no choice but to adapt its institutions to full independence. When contact was re-established, integration of Udmurtia back into Russia was attempted, however tensions between Izhevsk and Volgograd were unable to be resolved and thus Udmurt independence was restored and the Russian states were able to focus on taming the vast wildernesses to their north, south, east and west. The political wrangling however had allowed the Caucasian republics to the south to expand their own borders, with the Georgians quickly re-settling Ossetia and Abkhazia before continuing along the shores of the Black Sea, almost blocking Russian access. Azerbaijan and Armenia soon fell into a policy of mutually ignoring each other and focusing on their own expansionist aims around the Caspian Sea and Zagros Mountains, and on recreating the ancient Greater Armenia. While this was largely successful, contact with the Emiratis pushing northwards from the Gulf brought tensions between the two nations to the surface with Yerevan insisting that goods coming into Armenia did not pass through Azeri territory beforehand. Thus the UAE found itself drawn further into Iraq and acting as a middle man between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
While the Emirates were adding Emirates to the north, the Sultanate of Oman was adding colonies to the south along the Indian and east African coasts. They were joined in these adventures by many of the former south Asian migrant labourers who found themselves unemployed thanks to the disruption and upheaval caused by the Event who got themselves onto ships to India and set back to work rebuilding their homelands (in a general sense). Omani citizens meanwhile were looking for somewhere nice to relax and found it in the Seychelles. The islands' involvement with Oman deepened as Victoria looked to defend its new holdings in the Comoros islands from the French in RΓ©union, leading to the establishment of a formal defence agreement between Oman and the Seychelles. The French for their part were rediscovering the fun of colonising Madagascar, while the Mauritians first made good on their claim to the Chagos Archipelago before moving north, ultimately finding themselves encountering Oman's Indian colonies.
