Description This was one of those art pieces that I let fall to the way side because I hit some personal frustrations on the anatomy that I originally wanted to pose the characters in. I did want to finish it though because I wanted to re-draw one of the earliest pictures that I made during my adolescent years ... and I wanted to draw more fun backgrounds like cemeteries. In the process of re-capturing the Frankenstein monster & bride duo (who are coloured based on technicolour rather than their original monochromatic setting), I started to think about doing more "female monster" tributes for my work (with the contexts of autonomy vs. control, beauty vs. ugliness, misogyny, and power struggles being poignant themes for me).

Interestingly, this submission came around the time that I randomly stumbled across some online news that Scarlett Johansson is to be cast in a movie or series for a modern alternative to the Bride's tale. As a fan of the original 'Frankenstein' novel and the two black-and-white films, I'm interested in the possibility of showcasing the ONLY "classic" female monster outside of her original role that served as a complementary role to the original creature's life.
