Still got Avatar on the mind.Rough pencils (actually pretty clean, but still...rough work) of Iroh costume reference notes. Except for the younger Iroh (extreme left, completely invented, story idea too) and the General Iroh (Ba Sing Se siege), the clothes are referenced from screenshots. The thing is, with his general armour, nothing was seen below the breastplate. The big flame design can be seen on other generals' armours in the serie. But the lower part is still just speculation.
Seeing how little Iroh changed over the years, I didn't dare move too far away from his overall look for his younger self.
Eh, that's the thing before starting projects or ideas: notes notes and more notes. See what work, doodles for easy reference during work, etc...Just in case I ever do something with all these.

Stick Daemons make little commentaries apparitions. They tend to do that, but not too often.
Iroh belong to Mike and Bryan, Nickelodeon and Viacom. I'm just having fun drawing him.

Ah, awesome notes!
I really also like how your drew Iroh's body; the way his face is slowly aging is very neat too!
One little thing I noticed is his hair "color"; in his General outfit, his hair is getting lighter, but I thought that, in the flashback, Iroh has dark brown hair...? (I always assumed that his white hair was either the shock of losing his son, and/or traveling to the Spirit World)

I'm not quite sure about his hair color. I think his hair is naturally gray-white, and they appear slighly lighter when he's a full general just to indicate he is slightly older (though not quite all grey hair)

Ah, but in the flashback in 'Zuko Alone', Iroh had brown hair when he was seen writing the letter to his family, did he not? Or maybe it was the flashback hue >3>;;

Excellent stuff, as usual. I love seeing thought put into things like a character's aging process. And the stick daemons complete the awesomeness with commentary (especially the fugitive remark, heh).

Yes cloaks are one quite handy, clothes designs aren't always easy to come up with
Maybe there are no "drastic" character design changes done to Iroh but when you see the different stages lined up side by side like that...

That's always the tricky bit with character evolutions- or at least, I am afraid of pushing the characters too much, less they lose to much ressemblance.

It is tricky to change his body: a bit trimmer when young, but too slim, and it just ain't Iroh anymore.

Iroh goodness drenching is a good thing (or at least, a fun thing to draw).
