Not so much discussion about storyboards, but wondering why certain choices were made.
Could it be the movie had to make budget choices?
Everything here is just pure speculation, of course.

Damn, Slow Moving Rock must be the breakout star of 2010. Nigga's getting cameo spots all across the internet.

then bending in the film really annoyed me, it didnt seem fluid at all and too much waveing hands around before anything happened. i understand theres supposed to be forms with the bending but would have been much better if there element reacted with each move instead of only when they finished there dance

As someone else commented somewhere (more or less quoting here): "this is no longer martial arts but summoning".

Haha very nice! See, that scene totally confuses me still. Like when I was watching it at the movies I wasn't watching very carefully and I believed that all those burly earthbenders moved that single rock, which made me go into hysterics. xD But now that I read your comic, and've rewatched the scene online, I see that there is another earthbender in the shot at the very bottom, which creates confusion. Did he move that lone rock, or was it the Earthbending Dance Crew? Maybe somebody should ask Night about that... Either way, their dancing was hilarious and that video that you linked was hilarious. xD Good work!

It is sad when a scene is not clear enough it is impossible to come to a clear conclusion as to who made what.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't believe that was the actual movie. I think the real movie was lost in a horrible, catastrophic server crash a month before release, and what was in theatres was what they could scrape together from blooper reels and salvaged hard-drives, with a few weeks digital effects put in.

This is just great! they really didn't plan out the screen movements throughly when making this movie did they? Yes its wonderful you maintained the martial art forms but really did you need to have them all doing their Iron Horse dance after the effect has been achieved? Its not like its a flowing martial art like Tai Chi (Water Bending). Just kind of makes it seem like benders aren't at all effective at accomplishing they're feats. It seems so simple in the cartoon then they make it so involved and complicated in the live action. Have the little dance do more, like the ground shifting with each stomp! Have the Water fallow the benders movements more, they are controlling the element, not coaxing it to move.

Who knows what happened with the choreography of certain scenes.
Was it boarded that way? Was it filmed differently on the set? What part did editing play? Who knows.

Its just said. My favorite bending is Water, mostly cause I learned the actual inspiration for it, but that movie made me said for the earth benders. So ineffective were their movements, it was a joke. I'm glad he stayed true to the martial arts but not to the idea of element bending. And I was so excited for this movie too.

Was that the rock chasing them from the last page? They got far away enough to have this conversation, then continued the slow-speed chase they left behind.
Nice.
Anyways, you bring up so many good points about the movie. They auditioned the lead role over the internet; they should have also auditioned a consultant (you) to help with camera angles and such.

Plenty of other, better people they can get for cinematography and editing.
I'm actually certain they had good people already, but something went wrong.

I saw ur 'the last aisbender' sketches and i feel the same T_T
When i saw this movie i was like : Hell yeah! this great episodes became a movie!
And yesterday....i always wonder about the cuts and editing and the unlogic things there....
I mean.....what?! The Firebenders don't create their own fire?!
And....at the end....Why ,the hell, they (the fighting firebenders in the watertown) make party ,when the avatar shows his *good* water skills? ....Ehm...Waterbenders? THERE ARE YOU ENEMIES! Blew them up or sth.....and i was shocked about the ...'wave' at the end.....รฒ.รด
But i reallly liked the fight of zuko and aang....(next mistake...Where are they?!)
I have to stop....sry for that^^'

I really am curious about this. Some changes are so easy, or even free (a minute example: calling Grandma 'Gran Gran'). Huh. what I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall when the editing occurred.
Oh, the little rock at the end is PRICELESS. Thank you.

Without a doubt M. Night missed some opportune moments to really showcase a great movie. Sadly, even with better cuts and editing it still would not have helped the pace of the movie. I love what you're showing here. As a film student and director/artist I can see what would work better. It actually stinks, cause now I constantly point it out and it 'ruins' the movie for everyone else. Unless they agree with me. In which case I revel in my knowledge!
Seriously though.... What was up with the dancing????!!!????
