Description NOTE! DOWLOAD FOR FULL SIZE!

* Fixing in post refers to post-production. Post production is everything that happens after filming: editing, music, sound fx, visual fx, etc. Everything that needs to be cut and put together for the final film.

A little follow up to the previous page.

Not so much discussion about storyboards, but wondering why certain choices were made.
Could it be the movie had to make budget choices?

Everything here is just pure speculation, of course.

....MORE! PLEASE PLEASE MORE!!! I'm DYING to see what Kora will look like and I'm waiting on somebody (i.e. you) to have her watch the movie to understand what happened prior to her birthing and water whip the HELL out of her creators and Shamalan for allowing such a poor attempt of story telling and forbidding them from doing the same thing to her.

Korra is lucky; she's from the animated series dimension.
May she remain oblivious to the alternate world of the live action film.

See, this is what we thought for the original series and several OTHER series as well. Now we have the Yogi Bear movie coming out this Christmas and several other anime being adapted into film for 2011-12. Korra is only a matter of time, sadly. Hollywood is anything BUT original these days.

well he is right, filming is very very difficult and tiring. everyone thinks filming is the easiest thing ever, but it's really not.

a 5 minute project took me 3 weeks to film! And im not even going to go into post production , that was a nightmare too!

I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, I'm really sad/sorry that there's this much 'wrong' with the movie...on the other hand, I so enjoy your comics about them! So...I guess I hope that we don't see any more...but I also can't wait to see what you come up with next!

This is what happens when a director tries to cram a whole season of a show into a 2 hour movie. It never works out so hot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rufftoon In reply to Zeke-Icarus-Zephyr [2010-08-17 04:51:06 +0000 UTC]

It can be done with a proper adaptation- don't expect it to look like the animated series though (which may make people grind their teeth even more, ha ha!)

Myeah I guess. Gotta say the fire-bending idea they used came off a bit better then expected once they expositioned the comet's effect.

lonewolf23k [2010-08-16 23:49:27 +0000 UTC]

Budget choices my behind. Captain Sky and the World of Tomorrow had ALL CGI backgrounds with green screen, allowing them to create ANY SET THEY WANTED and putting the characters in them.

How hard would it have been to use such technology for this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rufftoon In reply to lonewolf23k [2010-08-17 04:55:12 +0000 UTC]

There may have been other incentives beyond technology that made them work with sets rather than just pure CG. Some may even be tax related, as some cities offer money incentives to production so they would film in their cities.
That's just pure speculation, but it is one of a few possibilities.

Giant Komodos.
Something like those huge sand lizard in the 1976 Star Wars.

The whole time I was watching this scene, I just wanted to point out that all they had to do was dump some dirt on those fires - PROBLEM SOLVED.

And the tiny floating rock still cracks me up. Hilarious.

rufftoon In reply to beautyisinthedark [2010-08-17 04:52:34 +0000 UTC]

I thought the same thing: extinguish that fire and you only have to deal with the guards with swords (who don't move or react very fast).

So hilarious!! XD I wonder if I'll ever see this movie, at first I wanted to see it in 3D for I've never seen a 3D movie yet but I fear my eyes will start to bleed.
I'm not waiting more from this movie than special effects but did it cost so much indeed to had horns to the komodo rhinos!? c'mon, I can't believe 3D artists are paid on the polycount! ...I know it's said "if you can't make it good, make it 3D" but damn...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rufftoon In reply to noxfoxArts [2010-08-17 04:56:12 +0000 UTC]

If you ever see a 3D movie, don't go see a "converted" one: that means one that was filmed in regular 2D and got the 3D added afterwards.

actually they did alottt of shooting of the Kyoshi Warriors bc M. Night loved them sooo muchh but then he realized that it was too focused on them so he cut them all out.
so i believe if they hadnt of made that stupid mistake they would of had alottt more money for other things :/
