Description NOTE! DOWLOAD FOR FULL SIZE!

* Fixing in post refers to post-production. Post production is everything that happens after filming: editing, music, sound fx, visual fx, etc. Everything that needs to be cut and put together for the final film.

A little follow up to the previous page.

Not so much discussion about storyboards, but wondering why certain choices were made.
Could it be the movie had to make budget choices?

Everything here is just pure speculation, of course.

If you don't stop making these, my laugh box will be burnt out! XDDDD

But srsly, you should keep on. There's years of material in that movie.

Ha ha ha ha ha, they're still being chased by the floating rock, hilarious! They could actually take their time to argue with Haru while the rock is floating towards them, genius!

They can't hide but they can run from that rock. They can even put some distance between them and the rock. Enough to catch a breather (or argue with Haru).

I read an opinion on one daily newspaper here in the UK that suggested that Shalmyan deliberately messed up TLA so it could serve as a spoof of the whole oriental martial arts fantasy action fic genre that was very much born (in the international market) with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. FWIW, I think that is giving the man too much credit.

However, if its true, Bryan and Mike should sue him and withdraw the rights for the next two movies until Paramount can find a better director.

rufftoon In reply to BenRG [2010-08-16 17:08:01 +0000 UTC]

Mike and Bryan may be the creators of the show, but unfortunately they hold no rights over it: it all belongs to Nickelodeon and Paramount. The studio can decided to do whatever they want with their property.

man i love these Ruff. Im sorry but i dont give shyamalan a pass for anything in that travesty, we could talk about how the budget was dispensed as far as sets and CG, but having the scene with earthbenders being imprisoned in a CANYON and environment made of nothing BUT earth--shows a lack of understanding or respect for the source material of the original show.

rufftoon In reply to justonorblu [2010-08-16 17:06:00 +0000 UTC]

I'm still scratching my head over some parts of that film.
They must have had a reason for these decisions. Must have. We may never know the answers.

My mum thinks M Night just browsed through a few episodes and called it a day. Or he asked his daughter to dictate as he wrote notes: "Derpderpderpderpderpherpderp." I think those were his notes...

justonorblu In reply to rufftoon [2010-08-16 18:27:23 +0000 UTC]

maybe. If i had to put myself in shyamalan's shoes, i could maybe see why he felt certain changes were needed, like the earthbenders. I know when i was younger when i first saw toph, personally, my first thought was, why couldn't all earthbenders be as ridiculously powerful as her, and maybe thats something he encountered as well. But i think there's a difference between making changes to adapt it to real world physics, and making changes that leave gaping plot holes. Like the siege of the north scene, if firebenders have to carry their own fire, wouldn't the master waterbenders of the northern tribe just put it out? I dunno that seemed like less of a conscious decision and more of a mistake.

Man, that rock is relentless...

Originality and Paying Homage are totally different things. Pretty sure that they were not trying to be exactly like the show, so things are altered to make it less of a rip off and more of a bad original concept sort of thing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rufftoon In reply to darkhorseman90 [2010-08-16 17:06:44 +0000 UTC]

It was impossible from the get go to be exactly like the series. An adaptation could still work.
