Description
In memory of my Labrador Retriever, Toby, 1998-2010. This painting is my goodbye to a very special dog, my one in a million. He was such a wonderful companion over the past 12 years and and was never happier than when out exploring the woods. I will miss him more than words can express, so this painting will have to suffice.Painted in Corel Painter using wet acrylic brushes.

Thank you! I have a choc labrador too, he's 8 now and still almost as excitable as when he was a puppy, don't think he'll ever truly calm down. Love your pics of Rosie in your animals stock gallery, I don't think I could get mine to stay still long enough

Mine is a show off... when we do a photo shoot after a while she gets fed up of not been the centre of attention. So she budges in
after a few photos she goes to bed
I am thinking of getting a black on next year... but still debating it

Yes, my choc (Oscar) loves being centre of attention too, total attention seeker in fact Go for it with the black lab, you won't regret it. They have such wonderful temperaments, usually very laid back and placid. Nearly all the chocs I've met have been excitable, whereas the black ones are usually very placid. They'll get excited if you play with them of course, but their natural instinct is to stay calm.

Thank you. I worry that I use green too much, but I love woodlands and try and capture the colours I see there.

Indeed. My other dog has been ill recently too and just got home from being inpatient at the vets. Luckily he's recovering though as I don't feel ready to paint another of these portraits just yet!

I thought this was a photograph from the preview - very nicely done. Amazing detail and realism.
I'm sorry to hear the story behind it, though...
Animals become companions and family members, and losing them can't really be described. But thinking of all those wonderful moments that they've shared with us - I wouldn't have been without them, even if their parting is painful.
