Description
The persistent belief that the followers of the Blood God are mindless savages to a man is a foolish and dangerous one. Some of the most brilliant minds in the galaxy have turned to the worship of Khorne. Some fall because of uncontrollable rage, others from their unquenchable bloodlust, others still because of their obsession with the art of war. Zygex-Rho V was once a Skitarii commander, serving the Forge World of Stygies VIII. Even when he served the False Mechanicus, Zygex-Rho V indulged his natural curiosity and sought new ways to fight and better serve his forge world. He analyzed every shred of data from Astra Militarum and Adeptus Astartes combat logs and used them to formulated new stratagems for his Skitarii. He also sought to develop new weapons to enhance the combat prowess of his troops, as well as his own. Zygex-Rho V believed that all second-hand combat data inloads were tainted by observer bias, and only firsthand observation would do. He also believed that noospheric combat simulations were no substitute for the chaos of actual battle. Like many in his forge world, Zygex-Rho V grew to believe that the restrictive edicts of Mars and Terra limited the potential of his warriors. Bit by bit, Zygex-Rho V studied the technologies and strategies of the Imperium's xeno enemies. First to combat them, and later to integrate their knowledge into his own extensive data reserves. Zygex-Rho V's experiments would continue in the dark corners of Stygies VIII, away from the prying eyes of the blind slaves of Mars. When his more dogmatic and blindered colleagues discovered him crafting arco-flagellants from captured Drukhari, Zygex-Rho V forcibly added them to his growing secret army. Unfortunately, this treacherous act would lead to the discovery of his operation. Although he and his loyal Skitarii fought bravely, Zygex-Rho V was forced to retreat from Stygies VIII. Declared a heretek and a traitor to Mars, Zygex-Rho V traveled to the Eye of Terror, where he would eventually find himself in the employ of the True Mechanicum. There, his eyes would be opened to the great truth that the liars of Mars sought to hide from him: the Omnissiah was real, and he presently took on the guise of the Blood God. The revelation made perfect sense to the former Skitarii marshal. Warfare was the physical manifestation of the quest of knowledge. Indeed, both concepts were one and the same: both represented the clash between two conflicting forces, with the superior triumphing over the other. Whether it happened with ideas or with warriors, it made no difference: conflict bred strength. The Omnissiah, in his form as Khorne, was strengthening the galaxy mentally and physically through ceaseless conflict. War was the ultimate form of worship for the True Omnissiah, and Zygex-Rho V would be his faithful servant. Over the centuries, Zygex-Rho V led his armies in battle against the forces of the False Mechanicus and their corpse-worshiping allies, against xeno filth, and against forces of Chaos that believed they could get in his way. Recently, Zygex-Rho V has pledged his services to the Dark Mechanicum cabal known as the Black Crucible, but not out of loyalty to their cause. Rather, Zygex-Rho V wishes to test his abilities as strategist against the best the corpse worshipers have to offer.
