When bringing heavy firepower to the battlefield, the Alliance Marine Corps prefer mobility and the ability to move through cramped spaces, such as a city, building, or even a starship. Some weapons are too heavy even for powered armored Marines to carry, while at other times, more protection is necessary. The Marines’ solution is the Assault Mech. Although bulkier and not as maneuverable as its Nomoki counterparts, the Assault Mech is a powerful weapons platform that can be armed with a variety of weapons. While chainguns and missile pods are common, other choices include heavy lasers, cutting saws, crushing arms, incendiary weapons, and all manner of other weapons. Assault Mechs can be equipped with different weapons for different tasks.
