Description This is why you send unmanned probes first, and hope they come back normal.

EDIT: Added a significant slice for virgin Earths.

They're counted the same as human sapients, so they'd fall into one of the other categories.

I feel there's some overlap between the percentages that border, save for "Empty Void". Unless you consider an Empty Void to be a form of Hell, or Someplace Decent.

This is measuring the situation for technological utility.

Although I'd like the idea that your systems can seek out a non-empty universe... Though maybe it's just empty to whoever's observing unless they come from a similar universe.

And hey, I imagine that two or three of those categories can flip around to "someplace decent", given time...

There's no way to find out until you send the probe. Most universes are timelines where whatever happened during the Big Bang that allowed more matter than antimatter to survive never occurred. There was perfect annihilation of both, so there's nothing but the occasional decaying subatomic particle.

Someplace decent really means somewhere worth visiting. Dystopian is defined as someplace so hostile to outsiders in particular that any exploration is doomed from the start, since anybody without the right identification gets arrested immediately, probably as a foreign spy. Post-apocalyptic worlds are also useless in that they provide nothing but fallout and awkward leather clothing. Multiversal conquerors and eldritch abominations have the unfortunate tendency to follow probes back.

Cool.

...Does Post-apocalyptic/Dystopian imply a vacuity pocket-type scenario, or one where a full universe is like that?

Are there infinite universes, or just a really darn big amount? Does this follow the "there are infinite universes identical to our own, and they might never diverge until the big rip or something"... postulate, maybe?

Both.

There are infinite universes, and the logistics of that is really screwball to the point that I don't want to put down anything to define it. It's meant to be impossible to understand, and I fear that any explanation I come up with would make too much sense.

Post-apocalyptic worlds could allow for remote outposts, at least. A garrison of soldiers can hold off even the largest zombie/road warrior/cubs fan horde!

Any images or sensor data helps.

Cool. I do believe in the Muliverse Theory.
