okay one quick question. do you re-draw the vehicle or you just place it there?

thanks for the very useful tutorial! I'll make some! :3

How many layers do you use?
Consequently, is there any merging involved?

You have an awesome style. (:

That was fantastic, but I'm mildly alarmed that there's no explanation of brushes concerned! I'd love to paint like this in photoshop..without the spiffy watercolor tool, I find it rather difficult to get a painted look like this.

So my question is..what brushes do you use and what's the opacity?

I guess I'm not surprised you like orange sherbet, you always seemed like a lemon-lime or rainbow kinda guy to me, though.

After you've rendered the vehicle. Do you screenshot it, or save it as a PSD or JPEG?

RYE-BREAD In reply to Fathands [2009-08-02 01:58:12 +0000 UTC]

I saved it as a targa (TGA) because it preserves the alpha channel and I can just drop the image anywhere without having to cut out the background.

Thanks, it's really helpfull!

(still i think that u overplayed with curves - black is lost. So it looks like overexposed photo now)

Very well said!

i'm glad someone can actually explain their style, whats the "inspiration" for your stuff?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RYE-BREAD In reply to WerewolfShepherd [2009-08-01 22:07:54 +0000 UTC]

Inspiration comes from anywhere, really, but this one in particular came to me while I was staring at the tracks outside of my train window. I think I originally envisioned some weird dude riding alone along the tracks on a very unusual one-car locomotive... and then it turned into this haha.

that was actually incredibly useful, thanks! A lot of people don't really explain what they're doing in tutorials, but your teaching technique is ... uh. .. educational. <3
