Great tutorial. My only suggestion is to Β apply a few layers of Β primer to the paper mache (I believe you called it chewed paper? Most English speakers just call it paper mache in America) Β and sand it down with a fine grade sandpaper to make look smoother.

the paper mache method makes it bulky and heavy... plus the jewel is far too large and not shaped properly...
however, your method of gradienting the paint is helpful. i will be using that while making mine.
