Today, Labrador retrievers everywhere get their day of recognition. So, any of you have Labrador retrievers or would want a Labrador retriever of your own? Well if so, sounds great, but here are some very important facts (and tips) about Labrador retrievers (or Labradors, for short) that you should know about:1. Labrador retrievers originated from a line in the United Kingdom from fishing dogs, which were imported from the colony of Newfoundland (now a province of Canada), and was named after the Labrador region of that colony.
2. Labrador retrievers were bred as a sporting and hunting dog but is widely kept as a companion dog. It may also be trained as a guide or assistance dog, or for rescue or therapy work.
3. Labrador retrievers are generally known to be friendly, energetic, and playful.

5. Labrador retrievers are powerful swimmers that are noted for their ability to tolerate the coldest of water for extended periods of time.
