so for fire, first the orange and then smack on yellow with a blurred brush?

first- use the blurred brush (orange) and then some (but a little!) yellowish one..
next you need to take the dodge tool (brush should be still blurred otherwise there'd be visible lines on fire) and use it on the centre of a flame
