Is there a way I can buy just this tutorial?
I LOVE your work and you're an inspiration to me but I don't have enough money to become a patron :/
Is there any way I (and maybe some others who cannot become patrons) buy specific tutorials?
Like, I want this one and this one only (for now), is there a way I could pay for this one?

I know it's very late, but just in case you didn't know yet, she has a gumroad now at which you can purchase all her tutorials separately.

I'm trying to buy specific tutorials too but, it looks like Patreon is the only way to learn anything from Sakimi. ;3; Which sucks cause you know. We're broke, haha.

Depending on what version you buy, but it's usually in the hundreds. If you would like a cheaper alternative, I recommend SAI.

I love your art but I don't think I could support you on Patreon. I feel it's more effective to support with valuable criticism rather than money. Money is just so soulless.

I agree sakimichan is highly skilled I love to see their art. Their art is flawless as far as I can see. I should have said critique rather than criticism since there isn't really anything to hate. I just happen to not support Patreon. If I will purchase something it will be a request, not to fund. I get being an artist is expensive. Everyone here knows that. But that is where, like KaylaKedziora said, you get a job.

I see, OK.
I think this is actually their job now though ^^ if all goes well it will be their yearly salary I am sure of it, if they had a regular 9-5 I couldn't see how they would be able to provide this beautiful art on a daily basis, so I think by financially contributing to them you would be supporting their doing what they love to do, while getting more of what you love to see, helping others improve and by extension their ability to continue doing it on a regular basis, it's a great win-win

lol.. being an artist is a job. There are no good artists who are drawing for public pleasure... And I think sakimichichan don't need critism anymore, because her art is already perfect...

You can, but her passion lies in art. She has quite a following, due to her amazing pieces. After pouring her heart and soul into her art for so long, she deserves such a payout. She is making more than most any job would pay, and she is doing what she loves.

wow.
are you saying that art cannot be considered "a real job"?
hey man, art is a hobby to some people, but to others it is a way of life and they take it seriously. art is a service that provides a good or luxury, and that can make it no different than other jobs.

KaylaKedziora In reply to Sacchim [2014-11-30 05:37:45 +0000 UTC]
im not saying it cant be a real job but the only way shes gona be able to pay bills is with an actual job instead of hoping someone will pay them for a drawing .

haha! I laughed so hard with the " ...instead of hoping someone will pay them for a drawing" part.
It's understandable that you draw as a hobby, which is totally ok. This means you have no idea what you are talking about, but you think you do because you do "the same" stuff as an artist, which in this case is drawing. But, trust me (this is real and you'll be amazed by this) in the world, the real world, the actual world we are living right now, there is people who actually lives from drawing!
Other people pays them for doing that! And also IT IS considered a REAL JOB. Seriously, not kidding! you can look out for it if you don't believe me.

HAHAHAHAHA, but that is what the artists job is about! Anyway, you have to understand this: Some one the greaters artist that I know started with two jobs, and the art job was the difficult one. You can be a waiter eight hours a day, but one you start to get quests you can't stand one of the jobs and you make the decision.
Sometimes you get hungry.
Being freelance its difficult. Its not the drawing itself you pay! Its the ten, the twelve, the week you worked on it, that its pay. Sometimes you cant work on a boring job to pay the bills if you want to make art your carreer!
Some support is always good. There is a person on the other side that its working hard on this!

i think that with 8000$ a month, Sakimichan can pay his bills and yours included lol

Sakuems In reply to pijuuu [2014-11-30 12:01:06 +0000 UTC]
Actually, Sakimichan is now at 5000$ every 2 weeks. So that's 10K each month.
if you cut down the fees, it's around 10% less so 9000$ monthly.
but Saki opened his patreon this month so he/she (still not sure if saki's a girl or boy) didn't earn that yet, but patreon charges every 2 weeks on his/her page, so in a few day, Sakimichan is going to earn 5000$ from his supporters.
pretty unbelievable
I have 39$ on my patreon page, it's been a month ahah XD

Yurnario In reply to Sakuems [2014-12-05 07:54:55 +0000 UTC]
It sure is a freakish amount of money, but bear in mind I guess Sakimichan would have to actually pay taxes on this? It would be pretty crazy otherwise. So you got Patreon fees, paypal transaction fees and then taxes on top of that. It won't end up as 5k in her pocket every two weeks, that's for sure.
But I suppose at least there is no problem for her to actually live of this now, which is great!

Sakuems In reply to Yurnario [2014-12-05 18:08:16 +0000 UTC]
I'm on patreon, i know the fees. Patreon take 8% on the number you see. Paypal takes zero fees on that, i though i will have 3.9% like other payments but no, not a single portion on my patreon money went to paypal.
yes, you pay taxes if your a legal creator and it's your job, but nothing more than 20%, i think it's 12% in canada.
SO even with that cut, trust, me, Sakimichan earns a lot

Yurnario In reply to Sakuems [2014-12-05 18:29:57 +0000 UTC]
I seriously doubt paypal are giving their services for free only because you use Patreon. I suppose any fees there are already accounted for because as far as I know Patreon have you pay any paypal fees.
But I could be wrong and paypal in some way have some sort of agreement with Patreon. (So that they take a percent of what Patreon earns from us users) and then on paper for you it wouldn't say any paypal fees. They are still there though.
About the taxes I'm actually sorry about that, I'm swedish so I just counted with my own taxes (31 %, yikes!) and that would end up as a big chunk of my Patreon "income".
I never did claim she did not earn a lot of money through it, just that there is a lot of other stuff that happens before she actually gets the cash in her pocket.
But yeah as long as you refrain from being swedish you're recieving almost all of the money on those numbers that we are able to see then.

Well, it doesn't matter if you doubt, i'm telling you the truth for me, i have a patreon and i already had 2 payments from patreon, i thought i'll have a paypal fee because patreon FAQ said i'll have one and i didn't. maybe it depends on countries ?
i usually have a fee with most transactions but for patreon i didn't have one. so i suppose patreon takes it shares and give a portion to paypal ...
taxes in canada (sakimichan is canadian) are 12% on most things you buy but i don't know how much it is on revenues ... in france it depends on how much you earn. i'm paying 16% on my revenues.
bu yeah, it's just been one month for sakimichan, it can change very fast on such plateforms, if people are disappointed or anything, they can change their mind and stop giving money. from what i saw on those projects, it's surely

Yurnario In reply to Sakuems [2014-12-08 14:40:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, to be honest I'm mainly spitballing here. But it's probably like that with patreon already giving paypal the percent they want.
Anyway, it's true what you are saying. Even though it can be a great way to earn money it's also very unstable. If people are dissapointed they just cut off and you'll be standing there completely screwed over if you haven't got any backup plan and what not.

I agree ^ You can't pay your bills with valuable criticism. Any artist knows that art supplies aren't cheap either. Neither is owning a computer with internet in order to keep showing off your art skills. In the end, everything is related with money, not criticism.
