Description
Been slacking on the Daily Sketch Challenge while I finish up work on my magazine... but then they dropped Batman Beyond as the topic and I HAD to get down with it! LOL!It is well known that Batman The Animated Series is one of my favorite things ever, and Batman Beyond is worthy of being canonized right along with it. I didn't watch it from the start, because I was totally against the idea of a replacement Batman who never paid dues as robin, but then I watched an episode and was instantly hooked...
anyways, here's 30 minutes of photoshop diversion...
hope you like it!
holla!

awesome!!! i'm not crazy about Batman usually but i am a big Batman Beyond fan, and i say you totally nailed it! now you have to do the rest of them, like Dana, Maxine, the Royal Flush Gang, Mad Stan...

right, right...
have you read any of the Batman Beyond comic DC is doing. Dustin Nguyen [link] is drawing it, I think. The stuff he posts on DA looks bonkers!

ummm, it's okay so far... it seems more like they're going for Beyond versions of original Batman characters, like Catwoman Beyond and Hush Beyond, which i'm not really crazy about. i always liked how the show had its own villains and did its own thing.

yeah, me too.
that's kinda the problem with the old Iconic characters. It's too tempting for new teams to do what we call the "villain parade" ("this is how we do Catwoman. This is how we do Penguin...")
Batman's the worst, because people like his villains so much...

agreed, and the villain parade thing is also annoying because for it to be truly effective you need to know the original version of the villain (same problem with a lot of the Ultimate comics at Marvel), while the Batman Beyond cartoon didn't depend on any of that. you could watch that show and totally appreciate it even if you didn't know much of anything about Batman, it gave you everything you needed to know even when it would very occasionally bring in guys like Mr. Freeze or the Justice League (which was also successful because other than Superman they used all completely new team members).

right. I like the idea of shared universes more for the fictional cities and the 'occasional' cross-over... but rehashing every old character gets tedious. It just becomes "oh how will [this artist] and [this writer] interpret the characters."
once you see your favorite version of the characters, it's all downhill from there
Batman Beyond managed to go against all the 'rules' of Batman, and still retain the awesome stuff. Terry has the rebellious teen energy of a Tim Drake, and the badass edge of Batman... really a great character! And like you, I liked that they made Batman their own, creating new characters that added to the richness of Gotham instead of just rehashing the past. like you said, it added so much impact when one of Bruce's villains returned.

and let's just forget about the JLU episode where it was revealed Bruce was Terry's father because of "Project Batman Beyond" or whatever. worst idea. T_T

don't like that grey foot tho. i know it's supposed to be the bottom of his foot... but it looks kind of like he's wearing a big slipper...

I loved the show and love it even more when at the end we found that this Batman was a cloned son of Wayne as an experiment to duplicate the events to make a new Batman... it was weird and cool all at the same time.

lol! I never saw that one! I need to check that out!
I loved that "Return of the Joker" movie. I have the uncut version where Tim blasts joker in the chest. That's one of the illest cartoons ever! lol!
