Description
So this piece was a pretty fun challenge. I took an online digital portrait painting class, and this is my final piece for it. I learned quite a bit and am rather happy with how it came out.
The class is Paintable who provided the reference, I believe they got it here . If you'd like to see my course work, it's available over on my Patreon . We cover the basics, from drawing shapes all the way up to a finished painting. I'm working on the bonus sections right now that focus on facial features. You can see my finished nose for that section here .

And did you take paintable's classes for pay? Or did you just watch one of their short youtube vids?

This was from his original class, though he has a new service now. It offers the same videos as the ones I took, but he's planning on expanding it monthly with new private tutorials. His YT ones are worthwhile on their own though. I'd try those out first if you're short on cash or hesitant to pay.

I saw he has a monthly service and its decently priced. I was interested, I just wasn't sure if I'd actually learn anything. Like if it would make a real difference in my painting you know? I took one of his webinars and it explained the most basic stuff ever. So I didn't have a lot of confidence. But your painting makes me think they really do have something worthwhle to teach
Everything I've bought to help me learn or improve my art so far has ended up being wasted money, so I have to just learn by trial and error, and let me tell you, it does not go quickly LOL

I wasn't sure if I was going to learn anything either, as at the time, I wasn't a beginner and knew quite a bit about the fundamentals. Was I good? Meh, but better than average, haha. His level was (and is) above mine, so I figured it was worth the shot. Not to mention, at the time he was offering it for very cheap, and it included him giving feedback, which is rare to find, especially at these prices. What he covers /is/ basic, but I /did/ learn some things. Not to mention, spending money was a nice motivator to get my butt in gear and push myself more. Luckily you can try it out for a month and see how it goes for you. I can't say with certainty if it's worthwhile for /you/, as only you can really know that, but if you do end up trying it out, I hope you get something out of it
