The Pharos is my favorite of the 7 wonders and one of the less appreciated. I am glad you like it too.

Lighthouses always deserve more appreciation
(Probably the most practical of the 7 wonders too!)

I agree, but it is always the pryamids or the hanging garden. We use the term Masoleum for any funerary complex honroing that one without knowing it.

You have captured everything I love about well-done water paintings. The opacity of the water as it filters the light, the spray against the bow of the ship, the turbulence of a wild sea. Really excellent work!

Wonderfully luminous, with the disturbing point of view of someone in the water

I have two questions.
1. Why the hell isn't this a print?
2. May I use some of your work as backgrounds on my forum signatures?
Really love the stuff +watch

Thanks. 1 - I'd be happy to sell you prints of any of my work, just contact me through my website at sam@samburleystudio.com. 2 - It might sound snobby, but I would ask that you do not. Credit becomes difficult to display and the imagery isn't really suited to that format. Additionally, many of the copyrights belong to clients.

I'm sure a lot of people will not "get it" but this is slice of history, and also killer job or recreation.

I love paintings of the sea. The colours, perspective and layout is what makes for a great dynamic painting. Well done.

Love the dynamism of this painting. You can feel the motion of the ship and the waves. And just how you did the waves...they look really amazing and believable. The translucency of the water, the foam, the way it all catches the light....they're definitely an eye-catcher. And I like the subtle bloom under the bow of the ship.
The tower works well, too, although I personally find it a little bland in comparison to the rest of the image. All its lines move straight up, without interruption...I think I would like to see a few sections or elements that jut out a bit. But that's just my personal taste, really
Anyway, hope you don't mind that little critique, otherwise there is nothing to complain about. Love it!
Daniel

I love the perspective in this. It's like a movie scene or something, I keep waiting for the ship to keep moving so it can be on to do... whatever it's supposed to be doing.
Brilliant.

That water looks so real I can practically smell it! And the dramatic angle really sets this piece off and coupled with the color pallet, gives it an exciting, urgent tone. Amazing piece!
