Sampdoria — Cafe Arabique

Description This reminds me of something of those Chill/Lounge Music CD's which are so fashionable these days... Budda Lounge, Arabian Lounge etc.
This is an interior which was done to actually show the bar counter but I showed other things. There are elements of architecture here directly from the Arabian Gulf regions especially Bahrain/Dubai.

As in most cafe's, the lighting is mysterious & moody.

Excellent work... love the styling of the bar itself... the smallish hallway leading to who knows where makes it interesting....

thanks mate. Thing about the typical "asian" (indian/arab/se asian) concept of space is maximum utility in the minimum of space. This springs from the age old scenario of concentrated populations in SE Asia and india. For the arab world, it comes more from a feel to have more privacy from the other users of a public space - i know, it sounds odd but thats how its been!

I've actually studies about the oriental cultures and similar thinking applies there... the hallway in your scene - makes the scene tho, as there is obviously something of interest down such a hallway... it is a beautifuly done layout...

That's a really nifty setting. What did you model and render it in, if I may ask?

Sampdoria In reply to arien [2006-02-17 13:03:29 +0000 UTC]

Hey there, thanks for the comment. And softwares used are : AutoCad for Modelling, Max for some minor model modifications and rendered in AccuRender.

Some of this can be seen at : [link] Cheers!

You're welcome. I'm just starting at modelling myself, and I'm trying to get a good idea of what gets what type of result before committing the piles of money required to buy a 3D modelling and rendering package

There is a poor mans/womans alternative to spending boatloads of hard earned cash... Called Blender 2.41 - Free to download from there site... has all basic features you would expect to find in the $3k programs....

arien In reply to SiathLinux [2006-04-12 12:01:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I'm aware of Blender, I've downloaded and installed it but I just can't come to grips with the interface.
So far the only one I could get my head around, and pretty quick too, was Cinema 4D. I've got a CE edition that I got free with a magazine, so I'm very tempted to get the newest version. I've also had Silo recommended a lot, but I haven't had a chance to test the demo. My main problem with it is that it doesn't have a renderer, so I'd still be screwed on that front.

SiathLinux In reply to arien [2006-04-12 21:28:44 +0000 UTC]

hmm Renderers don't come cheap... that is why I recommended Blender as it has an internal renderer...and can use PovRay, and others as well.

Good luck with whichever you choose.

If you are not in civil/architectural/mechanical fields, then you dont really need AutoCad, you would be better off using Max as it is more versatile and used for all kinds of modelling and renderings... It also has the largest no. of plug ins etc. For architects, its much more convenient to use AutoCad in conjunction with Max since both are from the same company.
