I drew a Utahceratops and her friend, but got a little sad when I realized I was pretty much copying James Gurney. Only it's so much worse than anything he's ever done.Related content

I realize this is probably old news, but I wouldn't worry about copying, unlike mine "Dino D-Day? ", which at the time, I did not consider lore to be an issue.
But based on what I DO know, your's seems to be more in line with what would be considered a "modern" take. If it were me, I'd say it was fanart.

Thank you so much. Only, I feel like an absolute fake, because I ripped off the color scheme from an image I saw online. I can't seem to find it anymore, and I really wish I could, just to give credit where credit is due.

Meh, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, or so they say. There's nothing wrong with borrowing elements from other work. If everyone strived to be completely original all the time we'd never finish anything because we'd realize half way through that some part of the picture or some scene in the novel reminds us of something else and we'd have to start all over again! Just do what most others do in this situation . . . call it "inspiration" and go with it!
