Description ED-209 comes from the classic 1987 sci-fi/action movie, RoboCop, directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner.

The Enforcement Droid Series 209 is a creation of Omni Consumer Products (OCP), the private technology megacorporation which owns the Detroit Police Department in the near future. ED-209 was envisioned as the future of law enforcement before a glitch in his software led him to brutally murder a low level executive in the OCP boardroom. See the video here: [link] After that, OCP decided to go with the RoboCop program.

ED-209 was a stop-action model, articulated by legendary effects producer Phil Tippett, for his action scenes. You may be familiar with Tippett's work if you've ever seen a little movie called The Empire Strikes Back. He animated the AT-ATs in the Hoth battle sequence. A full-size replica of ED-209 was also built for static shots.

Drawn in Manga Studio 4 Debut with a Wacom Intuos 2.
