Oh. There's one more method u can try for sharpen. Learnt that when I attended a photography class. Thought I share with u in case u interested.

-Create a copy of the image.
-Apply filter "High Pass". Setting maybe 0.7 to 1 depending on the brightness n darkness contrast of the pic.
-You can adjust the sharpness by adjusting the opacity of the layer.

This method avoid noise in the pic. However, this also slightly increase the value a bit for contrast.
A nice method if u want more contrast 4 the pic depending on the opacity of the high pass layer.

wah.. must try... i sometimes use the "unsharp mask" also... it's not as harsh as the "sharpen" filter... and can adjust the slider.

The only issue I have with this is that I have 3 exams and a fortnight holiday coming up and you've given me SUCH a craving to practice my painting -_- arg.
HOWEVER! This is possibly the best colouring tutorial I've ever read, and on such a good image! Rain can be such an arse to draw but this is a great way of doing things. Thanks for uploading this! <3

it looks like palette knife painting. you know, like oil painting palette knife... hard rectangular edge at an angle, but it fades off.

Ah, I see. So the secret of your awesomeness is not in a unique method but the drawing skills and a great eye for arrangement, color, and light. ^^
A very interesting read, that.
