Here it is! FINALLY. My entry for =SparklyDest 's March EMTC. Is it just me, or has March been the worst month to-date this year?
In any case, the theme is "Superstitions," and it was one of my new year's goals to enter every EMTC! Going strong, so far.
The original version of this has clouds in the sky, but I was doing that at 12 AM last night, and somehow I royally messed up the timing. I spent an hour and a half trying to fix it this morning until I realized that they're not necessary.

Feelings: I know it's not amazing.
I will never wait this long to start my contest entry again!
AND OH MY GOD, I FOUND A WAY TO MAKE THE EMOTES BOUNCE THAT ISN'T ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I LOVE IT.
And I hand-shaded them for the first time.

Ah! First off, thanks for the critique. I wouldn't have known this was your first if you hadn't told me. 
I do need to work on my scrolling and timing in that respect. I've not really used it too much, but thank you for pointing those things out.

Some of the others have covered the more technical points of the animation, so I shall leave that alone
Unfortunately until I read the title, I just didn't get what this emoticon was about. It just seemed like he tripped over then the other guy melted. I would have liked to have seen you really exagerate the idea of avoiding the cracks. Such as have a number of cracks that the emote deliberately jumps over before he lands on one by accident and "OMFG NOOOOO NOT THE CRACKS" to really push the story without the need for words at all. Perhaps if his friend was there too so that each emote relates to one another, because it seems to me like the one who is melting is just a random.
Like the others said the animation is great, so from a technical standpoint, fab work, but I'd have liked to have seen the story shown more coherantly

If you ever get the chance to revise, I'd add in the clouds. There's lotsa air space up there. The only other thing is that if it weren't for the title I would get the superstitious link. There's nothing between the two emotes that would make me think the purple one is the mom.
Other than that, it's awesome. My niece is always avoiding cracks for this exact reason. But she's 6, so it's excusable.

Hi!
First I would like to talk about the bouncing... The bouncing looks really good, I love how you made the emotes go with gravity and not make them jump too high, though there are a few things I would like to say about it: I've noticed that when the emotes (you can notice this in the blue emote more, as he's walking more) both walk there face and hands go up when there going up, and go down when there going down. It kinda makes the effect that they're jumping up and trying to face-plant into the ground. Relax your head and jump up and down, does your head go down when you go up and up when you go down, or vice-verca? That's what an emote should do, at least so when they jump they don't go rolling down the sidewalk.
Now that we're done with the emotes, let's go to the background, shall we?
Now for the sun. It looks like you were having a little bit of a hard time with the sun, as if you look at it you can clearly see where the loop started and ended. I would take an extra large brush and just dab it on the corner, the sun just looks a little bit cleaner that way.
All in all, it's a great and funny emote, and I can't wait to see the revamp version!

The bounce-walk is amazing, and the background and expressions are cool. Only thing I can think to say is perhaps speed up the panning across the scene from one emote to the next. Anyway, nice job.

Also, the sun looks a little....off? ;A; Maybe it's the dithering, I'm not sure.

The only thing I'd suggest with this is you speed up the frames between the "child" and the "mother", when the picture is moving from side to side. Other than that, I think it's pretty good!

Anyway, I love the switch of the emote's expression from happy to confused, and the mother's smile is cute until... that unfortunate back-breaking happens.
