Here it is! FINALLY. My entry for =SparklyDest 's March EMTC. Is it just me, or has March been the worst month to-date this year?

In any case, the theme is "Superstitions," and it was one of my new year's goals to enter every EMTC! Going strong, so far.

The original version of this has clouds in the sky, but I was doing that at 12 AM last night, and somehow I royally messed up the timing. I spent an hour and a half trying to fix it this morning until I realized that they're not necessary.

Feelings: I know it's not amazing.

I will never wait this long to start my contest entry again!

AND OH MY GOD, I FOUND A WAY TO MAKE THE EMOTES BOUNCE THAT ISN'T ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I LOVE IT.
And I hand-shaded them for the first time.

I would give a critique but I fail at those (Or I just prefer constructive comments xD)
I have to admit, I absolutely love the little bounce the little stumble is nicely done, it looks somewhat true to life. But I could imagine the emote almost falling more flat on its face? Could be an idea to make it so it flattens out more, and maybe even twist more as if it was falling down, but that's just me, as it seems like a spring and it just bounces up (Oh how I would love that to happen irl) The scrolling from one scene to another seems somewhat slow in places, maybe make it a consistent 2pixel move if not already?
I did think of this superstition myself...and Emotes don't have backs so I completely avoided it - I love how you made it, and it's so..jelly like I can't say anything to improve there, I do like it
As for the scenery The crack is defiantly well made It's easy to see and recognisable, the path does seem a bit flat though, the only idea I have for that though is maybe trying more of a 3D type effect, maybe more towards isometric pixeling As you said with the clouds it does seem a little bland, one Idea could be just to put some stereotypical type of skyscrapers in the background? even if faint I think it could add something to it The sun is very...whitish? I think maybe making it a bit more yellow could work

It's funny that you mention the falling on its face. That was part of my original idea, and I don't really know why I didn't follow through with it. I think when I got to that part, I didn't think about a big fall, so I just went with an easier bounce. It was meant to be a stumble, anyway.


THE SCROLLING.
NIGHTMARES. DEATH.
It was such a terrible process. The initial scroll to the mother was 1px the whole way. The way back, actually, was more difficult because of the clouds I deleted and blahblahblah. It was just a mess.
But yes, I will foresee that next time. c:

Looking back, I do wish I had something in the background. Maybe an edit at a later time.

Isometric pixelling. Maybe I have to look into this.

Fair neough, I can udnerstand the xcrollign thing, I hate scenery and what not xD

Iso pixel work is fairly simple once you get the hang of it- althought it can be hard to begin with, i'd say start glaring at tutorials
