Description
This is a very dope meme made by the incredible ! This can help a lot if you get lost in a artist block. These aren't in any order of importance, and decided to not make it flashy, just plain and simple.1. Batman (1989)- This was the very first movie I ever seen, and it is still listed very high in my favorite movies list. I loved the atmosphere, the story, and of course the performances by Nicholson and Keaton.
2. Star Wars (4-6)- This is one of the main things that made me gone the path as an artist. I love drawing the ships, the lightsaber battles, and did I mention Darth Vader? It also got me interested in film making!
3. Dragon Ball- C'mon, the greatest manga ever made as one of my top influences, this was a definitive addition. The characters, the art, and the story. It's just so enjoyable to draw this manga!
4. One Piece- If Dragonball is the greatest manga of all time, this has the greatest STORY of all time in any medium. This manga ignores the rules of manga making, and makes a very enjoyable thing to read and look at. Oda's style is crazy fun to look at. The most beauitful thing about this manga is the friendship that the mugiwara pirates have for each other, and will do anything for a nakama.
5. Rurouni Kenshin- Great, great manga. This is the best HISTORICAL manga of all time. The sword fights, the story of Kenshin being redeemed from his actions in the war, plus picking up a few friends along the way.
6. Indiana Jones- Adventure, all of these movies are excellent (maybe a little lower for the fourth one). Indy goes through adventures from the arc of the covenant, to the holy grail. Every minute is picture perfect! My primary source for epic adventure storytelling.
7. Batman (The comics)- Batman, my favorite superhero hands down! Don't we all need a vigilante to deliver justice instead of these "cops" with their brand of "Justice"? Instead of being an emo about his parent's death, he goes out and freaking kicks the criminal's asses! He may kill them, but instead he gives them the less convenient way and sends their ass to jail! Great man!
8. Spider-man- Once in a while, I like to get out of the cold dark world of Batman, and relax with Spider-man! He swings to buildings, has super human strength, and cracks jokes while kicking their ass!
9. Beauty and The beast (The movie, and the book)- This is probably the best of the disney films, sorry Lion king you are kimba! To tell ya the truth, I like the movie slightly more for it's visuals.. it's just freaking gorgeous! I also like the story, we all know the story so I don't have to repeat it.
10. Matt Busch- Even though this guy is not as good as say Drew Struzan, but that's like comparing a person to Jesus. But this guy is very talented nonetheless. I love his star wars work, just spot on with the details and emotes! This is the poor man's version of Drew Struzan, because it's obvious that this guy is influenced by him.
11. Glen Keane- My favorite disney artist, he created Ratigan from "The Great Mouse Detective", Ariel from "The Little Mermaid", The Beast from "Beauty and The beast", and many more. He has such a vibrant but at the same time a realistic style, but makes it his own.
12. Drew Struzan- The greatest artist of our generation (70's-today). He created such great pieces of art, but most notably he is known for his movie posters, from Star Wars to ET, and even Indiana Jones! He is my main source of inspiration for composition and realism. He even got me to start using airbrushes!
13. Naruto- This is a solid manga, it has a nice style.. and good character development.. but this manga has suffered greatly from standard shonen stereotypes, this has prevented it from being one of the greats. Good story, and art.
14. Superheroes- There is this cerebral thing about superheroes. It is the ability to make things right and use your gifts to protect mankind from any kind of evil. I like drawing them and I like writing about them.
15. Painters- I love paintings, from the last supper by Divinci to the bottom of the 9th by Norman Rockwell. I love how it looks, from the pre-stages to the finishing touches. It is a very beautiful thing to do.
16. Walt Disney- The king of animated films! He is the reason why cartoons are here today, he was a very great man. I overall like all disney movies. The art has always been top notch, and most of the stories are memorable! Top that Dreamworks (btw still like dreamworks!)
17. Jim Lee- My third favorite comic book artist. Batman hush and the 90's X-men. He has a style that most artists will kill for. He was almost an accountant (I shudder at this.)
18. John Romita Sr- He is my favorite comic book artist, his run with spider-man was one that is greatly remembered.
19. Jack Kirby- He and Stan Lee defined comic books forever, and Kirby's style is so simplistic but yet very hard to dupilcate.
20. The Legend of Zelda- GREATEST GAME EVER! I like the art and the colors over the Kingdom hearts art (which is good too), but overall the story is simple in nature, but so resonating. Second primary source for adventure story telling.
21. Tim Burton- Ok, some of his movies were below ok (Planet of the apes, Alice in Wonderlan, charlie and the chocolate factory) but other than that, he is the best Gothic artist I know. His run in the 80's-90's were one of the best in movie history. And the Nightmare before Christmas is by far my favorite when it comes to stop motion films, even though he did not direct it.
22. Steven Spielberg- Oh Steven, where would movies be of today if it wasn't for you? Pretty boring. Thank you for being so consistent and imaginative. My primary source of inspiration when it comes to film making.
23. Geroge Lucas (70's to 1983)- This guy is mostly here because of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. But this guy was bitten by the dark side of the force sometime before Howard the Duck (Dark side= money). But he made film making fun and he was one of the greats for a while.
24. Harry Potter- Still cannot believe it's over. This series is the Lord of The Rings of Magical adventure books.. How come I didn't put Lord of the rings instead of this? I guess it's because I miss the timing of where it could be deeply engrossing to me. And plus I grew up with Harry Potter, reading the books, watching the movies.. What else can I say?
Ask me anything about these influences, and share yours!
