Description
..and an other attempt on a walk cycles..now please, people.. try to think a little bit before leaving a comment.. i know there is still a lot wrong with the animation.. the walk still is very slippery, and it feels very rigid.. i know that.. so please dont tell me the obvious.. i think everybody knows what and how a walk cycles should look like and that includes me too.. the problem here is projecting the movement on the model itself.. please realize there is huge difference between knowing theoretically how it works, and actually making it..
i know physics arent working either.. im just not trying to get that working yet, so there is no hair movement, no boob bouncing and so on.. i need to get a good understanding about body movement first before i can start doing physics on the body too..
now i dont say that you cant leave a critic, i actually appreciate it when you do, but if you do then please be sure you know what you are talking about and dont state the obvious.. this is all about learning and experimenting, and no one ever learned anything from the obvious and/or nonsense.. thank you..

My only criticism is that she might be swinging her arms a bit much. Other than that, it looks fantastic. Keep up the good work!

Very nice job! I don't know if you have tried this but here is a suggestion, videotape someone walking, from different angles. It might give you an insight into what needs to move when.

I hope this helps:
I see you have dropped two things compared to Walk Cycle 04, but maybe they deserved to be maintained in order for the movement to be natural:
1- in WC05 shoulders are no more going back and forth, opposed to the leg movement
2- knees seem like being constantly rubbing against each other, while in WC04 they were distant
individually, the leg movement seems more natural now

euhm.. no i didnt forget about it at all.. eyes blink, and just like breathing, is all part of the secondary animation layer.. its like an over over the first one.. but im not working on that yet.. i need to get the primary movement right first before i worry about secondary movements..

I will only give you one piece of advice:
Go out and get "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams and read it cover to cover.

Yes! It does look a little rigid like you say but it looks a LOT more natural now (not to insult your previous attempts, I'm enjoying watching your progress with these animations).
The hips now rocking up and down instead of forward and backward seems to have made a lot of difference. Can't wait for more. Excellent work.

I love it! But I will also try to be helpful: I think that one issue is that the shoulder joints do not appear to move, and I think the cause for that is that the spine joints (upper torso) dont rotate very much on the Y-axis. I think the shoulders should rotate towards the foot that is forward. I hope that helps! And good work as always!

I'm no animator but i think this came out good experimenting wise! wish i knew how to do that myself but sadly graphic design doesn't work with that lol, anyway great job and hope to see more animation with you character!

You can easily find on web some free mocap animations (with walking included) easy to use in 3DS Max. Gives you much less work to do.

Wow, that's much better than the previous one! Especially from behind Keep it up!
I don't think it's overdone, it just looks that way because you focus the legs and hips, but I can imagine it to look really good when you're ready.
