Description
..and an other attempt on a walk cycles..now please, people.. try to think a little bit before leaving a comment.. i know there is still a lot wrong with the animation.. the walk still is very slippery, and it feels very rigid.. i know that.. so please dont tell me the obvious.. i think everybody knows what and how a walk cycles should look like and that includes me too.. the problem here is projecting the movement on the model itself.. please realize there is huge difference between knowing theoretically how it works, and actually making it..
i know physics arent working either.. im just not trying to get that working yet, so there is no hair movement, no boob bouncing and so on.. i need to get a good understanding about body movement first before i can start doing physics on the body too..
now i dont say that you cant leave a critic, i actually appreciate it when you do, but if you do then please be sure you know what you are talking about and dont state the obvious.. this is all about learning and experimenting, and no one ever learned anything from the obvious and/or nonsense.. thank you..

ow sorry saph I stated the obvious before lol. Srry my bad! haha.
I think, you are on the way to becoming awesome at rigging

hehe.. this is actually not rigging.. but animating.. rigging would be making a bone structure and how joints react by movement.. creating springs for boob bouncing.. also muscle movement like when bending an arm which effects the biceps muscle.. thats purely rigging.. what im doing now is animating the basic body movements.. so thats purely movement of bones itself..

This is a great improvement from the last walk cycle you did. I'm really enjoying how you are progressing getting better and better at this.

Nnnnnearly! It's nearly there .
I can see why u did that walk because of the last shot haha.
However it is making the front look like she has very wobbly lower legs. If u just turn that back a notch, and then
try to make a little more natural spine movement in the upper body and light waves of wind through the hair, you've got a winner

haha.. its all about the last part
thanks a lot for the feedback..
i looked into that 3d plugin for after effects too.. and its really amazing what you can do with it.. its really easy to use and the effects can be really amazing.. the only thing i didnt find is how it renders.. do you know if we can use different kind of render engines ?

Shows what I know about 3D aint it lol.
The plugin does this within Aftereffects in the standard render que itself.
In the tutorial videos it shows you that they have super sampling off and draft textures on whic helps with the realtime previews. There is a drop down menu towards the bottom of the plugin to actually
turn on full quality renders and to do cool things like glow effects and depth of field thingies. Then rendering is pretty much the same waiting game as in 3D programs. However it does this frame by frame, and I have found it to render the final output quite fast. Took me only 10 mins to render out my can of pepsi.
Now of course this was a simple model, not too many polys. But I have imported a few heavy duty ones before. You only have to wait at the importing. Then it renders the model out at the same speed. (Somehow it loads it into the memory perfectly haha)
They have now implemented importing animation in it too, which is nice.

yeah you are able to import complete obj sequences.. so thats really useful.. i have to take some time to learn all about after effects now too.. i never used it before so im complete noob..

what an unbelievable improvment!
as a critique, when you start using all this trial data, remember the little things can make your viewers less enthralled by the clip. like when she is walking away, i noticed her arms phasing into her torso, mabye increase the shoulder width or shorten the abdomin width. orchange the overall angle of the arm.

I don't think I've commented on any of the walk cycles you've put up for a while but I have looked at all of them. Normally to me in the walk cycles you've put up so far the ankles always seem too stiff or just stuck. In this one I don't see that.
Just that alone makes this walk cycle 10 times more natural in my opinion. Obviously there are still other ares that need work and you realize this. BUT I'm just happy there is some motion in her ankles now.
Keep up the hard and good work.

Certainly a "step up" (sorry for the obvious pun) on your last walk with the arms and legs looking a lot more fluid then they did. I must say you are well on your way and when you finally get the result you desire I am sure it is going to blow us all away That being said I can now say ..... OMG !!! What may be lacking in the whole walk cycle is completely forgotten (by me at least) when it comes to the last part of the cycle with Saph walking away .... what an in credible piece of animation you have there with her truly spectacular butt wandering off into the distance. If you just posted that part of the cycle I doubt I would have noticed anything wrong at all

SaphireNishi In reply to Drulgan1 [2013-02-13 20:56:24 +0000 UTC]
haha.. well the problem is the different views.. something that look good from one side doesnt mean it has to look good from an other side.. and that is what makes this whole 3d thing really hard.. when doing 2d animations you dont really have to worry about all side since you only see one side.. but with 3d then whole thing has to be perfect from all sides..
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Drulgan1 In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-14 05:27:52 +0000 UTC]
True true ... but if one side is REALLY good ...like Saph's rear then that can compensate for other parts Seriously though you are really moving along with all this animation and are just going from strength to strength .... I know you will get there and I plan to be around when you do

very very nice. The hips sway is great, legs do a little clipping but good. Arm swing is a little exaggerated but it lets us see what you're trying to do. Excellent progress, Saphy.

everyone seems to be enjoying it. What makes it fresh is you use different outfits each time. if we were seeing the same outfit each time might get kind of boring.
maybe you should just try a nude walk cycle so we can see how the skin reacts with the motion. Shoulders and lower legs like to hide small clipping sometimes, I had major problems with that in my older characters...well they also wore bulky armor but that's beside the point.

SaphireNishi In reply to Kudos707 [2013-02-13 21:44:30 +0000 UTC]
yeah.,. i cold do simple clay renders and just the naked body, but i think it will get boring real fast for the watchers.. the other question is how long is this going to be fun for me, as long as im still improving it wont be a big problem, but once the improvements get less and less then its a really hard to keep having fun with them...

Kudos707 In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-13 22:00:20 +0000 UTC]
well another option is to use different animations. Dancing, running, something like that.
And if you feel like you're STARTING to get bored of it, what you can do is leave the animation projects on the side to self-improve on. Then go back to regular pic posts for the watchers. but don't wait UNTIL you're bored with it or you won't have the inspiration to go back to it later.
So my advice is try to mix it up a bit for maybe one more post, and see what you and the watchers feel after that. Do a nude ballet. Sparks interest and really pushes the boundaries of what the character vs the mocap animation can do. Or maybe a lingerie ballet if you're not comfortable with completely nudity.

haha.. i cant even do a simple cycle walking.. and you want to make a complete dance move ?
i do see what you getting at.. and you are right.. its all about keeping variety at your work.. good thing is i still have a lot of other things i need to test.. so getting bored is just not an option.. next up is animated textures.. i think thats going to be fun
