haha.. my car is voice controlled.. so if you wanna steal my car you need to steal my voice too.. otherwise you wont be able to start the car

idk if you noticed but theres a lack of gravity on her body when she walks. the bones dont move that way unless the person is forcing themselves to walk that way and even then im surprised she isnt falling backwards

SaphireNishi In reply to RacMyCoon [2013-02-24 20:15:51 +0000 UTC]

i know.. the problem is projecting the correct movement on the body.. pointing it out is easy.. actually making it to work is the hard part.. its way i keep practicing on them now..

Also since several people are saying sideview doesn't look smooth, it's their computer/browser, it's perfectly normal for me.

SaphireNishi In reply to 9fruits [2013-02-24 20:45:44 +0000 UTC]

it runs smooth here too.. so yeah, i think its either the pc or the browser people use that is causing the problem...

Very good, big improvement! The knees are still with the joint a little high and centralized inside. You can take a bit of movement of the belly and hips to move. Otherwise, it is merely a matter of style.
Keep it up, congratulations!

I'm brazilian, never studed english, and we use a lot of forms that make no sense in others languages. I've studed Maya for 3 years, and I think that the walk cicle looks a little strang because of the knee joint, it looks is a little high in the leg, try put it a little down (or post a wireframe with the joints and skelekton to help us to help you).

SaphireNishi In reply to feyxnando [2013-02-24 22:05:23 +0000 UTC]

well there is a lot wrong with the anatomy of the body but i dont think the knee height is wrong.. im not really sure how it would help to see the bone movement instead of the actually mesh movement either.. its the mesh movement that is important here.. the bones are just controllers of the mesh.. but its the end effect that counts.. how does the actually step look.. what happens when the the spline when we walk.. thats way more important i think...

My girlfriend helped me to look, and maybe what is given me the impression that knee is to high may be the texture. From the side view, when the leg bends, becomes a little more thin, and from the front, theres some kind of distorcion, right above the knees. I had a problem similar on a animmation for a test some months ago, the joints where deforming the mesh and I took hours to find the problem, but it was on Maya, not on 3dmax.

Another point that looks a little wrong is the right foot on the side walk. I had a problem to make the foot touch the ground on the right point, the joint tool maked some crazy spins and not helped at all, I (and my girlfriend) had to doo all the frames at hand. I dont know if the foot had some joint animation problem or was just a accident, but may help if she dont step so angled. She is steping with the front leg tottaly Stretched, try to put the body more forward, and the foot that touches the ground with the leg slightly bent, will give a more natural look.

is it just on my PC, or does the sideways view not run quite smoothly?

Also, her spine seems unnaturally curved.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaphireNishi In reply to Rickmer [2013-02-24 20:13:25 +0000 UTC]

it looks very smooth on my screen..

what would be a normal curve for the spine ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rickmer In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-24 20:51:42 +0000 UTC]

it looks smooth now... guess I was having an odd playback issue.

as for the spine... right now saph is looking like she's suffering from hyperlordosis (just google it).

SaphireNishi In reply to Rickmer [2013-02-24 21:01:09 +0000 UTC]

well i can see there is something wrong where her back.. but the problem is fixing it.. what i need to figure out is how a spline reacts when we are walking.. thats the problem now.. i dont really have to know what hyperlordosis is.. so my question still stands.. what would be a normal curve when we are walking.. there is not a lot of info i can find about it.. if you know anything then that would be helpful to share..

Rickmer In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-24 22:24:21 +0000 UTC]

I don't really know much beyond what google can find you in 30 seconds...

I suppose the best thing to do might be to go on youtube and look up a few models walking on the runway to study how they look and move.

SaphireNishi In reply to Rickmer [2013-02-24 22:37:15 +0000 UTC]

haha.. so smart.. thank you very much for pointing out the most obvious thing ever do you really think i didnt thought of that ? thats how im doing it now.. and have been doing it for the last 2 month when i started with this

please understand that making a walk cycle is one of the hardest things to get right.. it takes animators years to be able to make a perfect walk cycle.. this is my 7th attempt.. so i still have along way to go.. what i actually need to learn is how the human body reacts when preforming certain actions.. and then projects the right movements onto a 3d model.. its really hard to create a convincing pose when doing still renders.. but when doing animations it bring the difficulty level to whole new height..

very nice! the way you have the feet pick up before step and plant after is very realistic! huge improvement.

and that outfit...what a tease...

SaphireNishi In reply to Kudos707 [2013-02-24 20:12:22 +0000 UTC]

thank you so much.. i figured out how to do the feet now.. the trick is to have two pivot points on her feet and not just one like i used in all the previous ones.. it makes life so much easier this way..

Kudos707 In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-25 07:50:15 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I should consider doing that too, I did a walk cycle recently for my group project and even for only two short steps it looked horrible. Got even worse when my director asked me to fix it using a different method that conflicted with the animation I already used. So now in order to finish it on time i have to improvise.
