Another quickie: to adjust brush size use the bracket keys on your keyboard, left bracket to decrease size, right bracket to increase size

As an alternative to selecting all (Crtl-A), copy (Crtl-C) and paste (Crtl-V) in the first step, you can use Copy Current Layer (Crtl-J). This copies and pastes the currently active layer. Saves you 2 keystrokes.
