What do you suggest to do for a character that has two-toned hair? Like in an undercut style?

SarahForde In reply to sky-the-ripper [2017-10-04 00:08:59 +0000 UTC]

hmmmm depends on how it looks exactly but you can always split the pattern up for the colors? Or do layers with the flaps Β

"Roots" black that grows out to a golden-ish brown ^^

Cool! Thank you so much!

ooooh well you could try paint, not sure how that would go but it's probably what I'd try, or use some other fabric that you could dye maybe. Challenging!! Layers might still work, just would be an abrupt shift in colorΒ

Alrighty! Thanks! ^^

*Is just going to link my character just in case anything I say doesn't make any senseΒ  * It kinda just the top of his hair that's the goldenish-brown color, which is kind of a hard color to find in felt form xD But I found something close!

SarahForde In reply to sky-the-ripper [2017-10-04 14:00:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah def I'd do the base of the head black and then add layers of the goldenrod color, one up the front and then maybe a few down the top of the head, you will have to cut seams in for it. Good luck!

Do you know where i can find hair and cloth patterns that fit this pattern?

I never found the time to post anything for that, sorry! But it's mostly trial and error based on the body shape. I do have this guide for long hair which might help:Β  Β

Hi there, just a quick question, do you have any suggestions on how to sew a face on the doll? I'm making my first human doll and making a twin set for my best friend and I. Sorry i f this is a bother at any cost

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SarahForde In reply to Crystire03 [2017-07-07 01:00:43 +0000 UTC]

Hi! I haven't ever sewn a face. I have done piecing which is like cutting out felt parts and gluing them on, and I have done painting, and iron on. Iron on is by far the cleanest and it's currently what I do, though now it's digital and it used to be drawn on the transfer paper. Painting worked well for me for a bit at the start.Β

Celestia's eyes were pieced:
Β  Β

faces can also be embroidered but doing that by hand takes a very long time and a machine is quite expensive.Β

I hope that is helpful! Β

hello!! do you have the body plush tutorial??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SarahForde In reply to lila-flower [2017-03-15 12:32:57 +0000 UTC]

Hey! I didn't do the body on camera, but the body has two parts you sew together except for the neck opening. Same thing with the arms. You have the option to sew the arms into the body seam or attach them after (I attach them after if there is going to be clothing over the seam).

yes but it's very small, like 1/8" I sew really small hand seams xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SarahForde In reply to BigHeadedMonster [2014-08-21 23:03:13 +0000 UTC]

You can put the arms on the body as part of the same pattern, or you can sew them on after the body is stuffed. I do the former when the arm seams will show and the latter when they won't (usually)

I love this tutorial video and it was amazing. About your cat, it's fine because it doesn't know anything like other animal pets and I love your kitty that makes me laugh when it tries to interrupt you that you thought it was not gonna help you.

Anyway, have you seen B-Robo KabutackΒ by Toei Company? It's a Japanese Anime live-action kiddie Metal Heroes show and it involves some cute-looking Anime-like B-Robots who transform into aggressive humanoid robotic fighters. If you watch this show, don't let their cute looks fool you because on the inside, they have hearts of tough warrior fighters. I know cute appearances can be very deceiving sometimes. This is what Kabutack looks like and that's the one that I was trying to make a plush doll of it. metalheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Kab…

I need to learn how to make arms attached to the doll body to make them move around like a teddy bear and sock monkey with loose arms that could move around.

SarahForde In reply to BerryViolet [2014-02-18 19:58:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm I know some people have used buttons for that kind of movement? www.google.com/search?q=button…

Look at my gallery and you can see what I'm doing with those kits.Β magic-kristina-kw.deviantart.c…

It took me lot of time with hand embroidering until I need to learn to attach limbs to a doll body to make those doll loose limbs move around instead of hold still like a scarecrow or gingerbread man plush. For example, a teddy bear with loose limbs that could move around. Not with buttons. i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/0…

I'm just a little lost and have no clue what I'm doing so please forgive me if this is a stupid question what warts/edges of the triangles am I supposed to be sewing here?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SarahForde In reply to Kz-Wolff [2014-02-18 15:14:28 +0000 UTC]

I know, the black makes it hard to see ; ~ ;Β

The triangles are the bottom bits of the back of the head pattern. It's the middle shape in the top row here:

Kz-Wolff In reply to SarahForde [2014-02-19 06:11:35 +0000 UTC]

oh, okay ^^

so doΒ I just stitch where the slit is, or do I sew the bottom edges together too?

sorry if I'm bothering you orΒ if I'm not making any sense.

I suck at this stuff but really want to make my own plushie

SarahForde In reply to Kz-Wolff [2014-02-19 15:07:39 +0000 UTC]

No bother

You just close up the triangle, so you sew the opening together.
