Description
1. Troy Wingard is my first drawing teacher. He makes giant pastel drawings (look behind him).2. Margaret Morrison was my second teacher. She makes giant oil paintings of candy and other sweet things.
3. Alphonse Mucha pretty much defined the Art Nouveau Movement, though he hated the term Art Nouveau. He has wonderful lines and uses a lot of warm colors.
4. Charles Dickens. I love the way he creates such vivid personalities. Even after his death, characters such as Scrooge, Pip, Miss Havisham, and the Artful Dodger still resonate.
5. Edgar Allan Poe. For his dark tales of loss and longing to which I can relate.
6. James Jean's lines are elegant and light; I like his notebooks, filled with precise, fluid linework.
7. Jon Foster. Lovely compositions and textured surfaces for his paintings. I enjoy that though a lot of his work has focus in the center of the picture plane, he makes the subjects energetic and intriguing.
8. Eric Fortune. Quiet but powerful use of gradients and lighting. The texture of his paintings seem to melt into the surface of the paper.
9. Sam Weber. I also like the contemplative mood of this artist's works. Often he restrains on his use of color, knowing just when and where to place it. His works feel like they have a narrative quality to them as though they are a small piece of a whole.
10. Sterling Hundley. Excellent use of perspective, and sometimes collapses and flattens the image, which is rather cool. I also enjoy how he includes hand-drawn text in his works.
11. Joao Ruas. This artist reminds me of a lot of elements in my own work, and I really enjoy the use of grayscale.
12-14. Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye. I love Motown Records.
15. Ray Bradbury. You really have to read Martian Chronicles. You really do.

I think its the first time I see this map with writers and musicians. And you are right, Martian chronicles is a must. Ray Bradbury has a way to make his readers widen its minds.

lol. That's funny. Like 99% of Sam Weber's work is monochrome, it'd be more like taking 'a' color than 'colors.' Still, I like the placement of it when he uses it.

I love half the artists you have as influence, and the other half is unknown to me.
Also, I'm hoping you can come post on dA more in the future, I miss your works! Have you been busy lately?

Heh, yeah. I kind of disappeared for a while. I was busy and just wasn't in the mood for interacting, but I will be creating more art... so no worries.
How are you doing?

I was just thinking of you and how much I miss your arts! D: I'm with you on Martian Chronicles. Something Wicked This Way Comes is my second favorite (and F451 even though I had to read it for school).
As for Poe.. did you know there's a movie coming out? [link]

Oh, thanks for thinking of me : ) How are you?
I think it's Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, then Something Wicked This Way Comes for me in terms of favorites.
D: What? There's a Poe movie... excellent! I don't know about John Cusack as Poe... it's just that he's such a funny guy, but still, I'm very intrigued.

OMG, you didn't put down Sir Arthur Conan Doyle? I would have definitely thought you'd put that one.
I love Mucha. I think it's hard to find an artist who isn't inspired by him. I think I've seen him on every influence map except maybe one.

Well, there was only so much space. Roald Dahl, Shel Silverstein, and Neil Gaiman didn't make it either D:
Yeah, I have Mucha posters all over my walls as well as a postcard collection I love his sense of line and his flowing figures. I'm not surprised I've seen him all over these influence map things.

I have a print (Job 1896) and a poster but I can't figure out where I want the Les Saisons (it's the first series of Les Saisons that he did, if I remember correctly) poster. I keep changing my mind and keep thinking I need my giant poster should be framed although that'd cost a fortune (it would have to be custom. It's HUGE). It's hard to pick a favorite from Mucha's lithographs. There's too many that I love and very few I don't like. His stained glass work is beautiful too.
