Description
This is a fan Character based on the Sonic Riders/Babylon Rouges, and is being developed for a role in an upcoming Babylon Rouges Fan Fiction I'm putting together.I chose the Magpie, because where I come from, these birds, though very beautiful indeed, are notorious thieves! O_o
I've seen one make off with a 5 pound steak...in flight! That was a sad barbeque day...but pretty cool at the same time! These birds also love the shineys! So watch out if you wear flashy jewelry around these birds. They might just rob you blind! XD
I chose the name "Magnus" in reference to the "Magnus Effect", and also because the name "Mag-nus" shares the first part of his Species name of "Mag-pie".
*Edit: Development Complete. Character is now official in my gallery.
Please do Comment and Critique. ^_^
Name: Magnus
Nickname: "Master Magnus", The Seeker, Herald of Babylon
Species: Black-billed Magpie (Babylonian)
Gender: Male
Eyes: Sky Blue
Color: Black, White, Iridescent Navy Blue
Height: 120 cm (3' 11")
Weight: 40 kg (88 lbs)
Age: 25
Likes: Treasure, Adventure, Loyalty, Honor
Dislikes: Thieves without Honor, Rash decisions, Disrespect, Arrogance, Milk
Team Member Type: Skill Type
The "Skill Type" ability manages to combine and maximize Dash and Curve abilities with minimal sacrifice to Limit abilities in order to gain unmatched Inertial Drifting and Cornering skills, and combined with the Gravity Control and Dive, he's a tough opponent on the track.
Skill Stats:
Dash: *****
Limit: ****
Power: ***
Curve: *****
Also as a special feature for "Skill Types" they can access areas of tracks that are only available for other player types through "Attack Mode".
Skills:
Master Thief - Speaks for itself. With age come his experience and as the designated "Skill Type" character, Magnus features abilities that enhance his Instincts, Reflexes, Agility, and Stealth, but he has no special powers.
Extreme Gear (Zero Gravity) The Swift Corsair - His skills on a board are legendary. His board also has a built in voice command module that allows the Swift Corsair to undertake certain commands from Magnus.
"Corsair" - Summons the board if Magnus is separated from it.
"Shield" - The board flies in front of Magnus and acts as a shield.
"Charge" - The board will jump into top speed for a short distance. Usually makes for an effectively fast escape, or can easily clear a path through anything...or anyone blocking Magnus' path.
The Swift Corsair hosts a central computer core, similar to the one that Wave wears around her neck, that allows for the voice command programming tech in this particular gear.
Blackbird Rush - A Stealth skill Magnus uses as an evasion tactic, and at times a tactic for catching his foes off guard. It will appear as though Magnus is surrounded by a massive flock of smaller black birds that will fly right at you. Before it looks like the birds are about to collide with you, the flock turns out to be only a bunch of black feathers.
Steel Staff - As in the tradition of the Babylong Rouges, Magnus does carry a weapon to knock others from their boards, or to just engage his enemies if he gets cornered. Its a collapsable/extendable steel bo staff.
Marital Status:Single (involved?)
Family: Deceased, his clan was massacred
Home: He is generally Nomadic, but he claims his loyalty to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Personality: Magnus is steadfast, proud, level headed and always keeps an air of cool calm no matter the situation. He has a constant calculating look in his eye, and he always seems to have a plan for every situation. When he sets his sights on a goal or prize to steal, he always gets what he wants, however, he does not believe any treasure is worth more than your life.
He lives his life by a code of Honorable Thieves that he upholds to the highest degree. No other thief dares to question or violate this code, fearing Master Magnus' strict and swift discipline.
He is a strict teacher for the young heir, and demands that his student always sees to the ways of the Honorable Thief and Babylonian Society.
Fears and Flaws: His greatest flaw is his pride. He is a proud Babylonian down to the core and he will defend the honor of his home and his name, should anyone dare to raise doubt of his integrity and his Code of Honor.
His greatest fear is dishonoring the spirits of the past, and failing his service to the Heir of Babylon. He wants the Hanging Gardens of Babylon to be restored to its original glory, but even he knows that the fate of the Gardens is in the hands of the destined Heir.
Background: Before the fall of the Gardens, Magnus' ancestor was once the Master Thief in service to the Old King of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, charged with teaching the King's heir in all his trades and skills to prepare the young Heir for a future as King.
On the fated day when the Heir of Babylon and his people were scattered to the great winds, the ancestor swore to the dying King to seek out the Heir of Babylon and to ensure the youth would ascend to restore and rebuild the Hanging Gardens of Babylon to her original pristine state and glory, and would further advise the prince to govern as a great King for the future.
Since the fall of their homeland, the descendants of this ancestor have passed down the charged duty to search for the foretold missing Heir who was said to carry with him the Key to restoring the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Master Magnus, as the most recent descendant, has undertaken the inherited mission to seek out and mentor the Heir of Babylon. He has had many adventures, and followed many leads to seek out his charge, but the Heir always seemed to be one step ahead, and just beyond his reach...until the fateful day destiny intervened…

If you mean Sasuke from the Naruto, I suppose I can see some little bit of a resemblance, but I took no inspiration from that anime.
Also, Magnus is not a ninja, but a thief. While the two classes are similar, Ninjas are specifically designed to kill without being seen, while a thief commits theft without being seen. Generally, the point of the thief is to not get caught or leave a trail of blood, be it yours or someone else's.
Unlike Sasuke, Magnus is older, wiser, and has no special powers with his eyes. He also has no sibling envy or desire for revenge to act as his motivation. Magnus stands apart as his own person, with no ties to any anime character.

I mean he has the color scheme, He cares about his culture and shiz. Based on how you described him he most likely can do that shit where the black lines is just moving super fast. Thats another sasuke similarity. His clan was massacred just like how sasukes was. They both look pretty edgy. There both cool, and act calm. He dislikes rash descisions like sasuke. He can even suprisingly also do the whole black bird surround you shit. They also care about honor and shit to. Your character if it had like a few tweaks would just be sasuke

Magnus has the color scheme of a black-billed magpie.
Caring about your culture, people, and personal or family honor is a common trait for both fiction and IRL, and there are many other characters other than Sasuske that are like that.
Being a sole survivor of a community, family, and race is also a common hero or anti-hero trope.
Magnus is not summoning blackbirds, his ability is basically molting some feathers while under speed to create the illusion of blackbirds. Its a distraction tactic to make you flinch and lose sight of Magnus so he can escape.
The Crow Clones in the Naruto Series are not tied to Sasuke, but to Itachi, his elder brother. Its a fantastical technique that is basically creating an illusionary doppelganger to trick your opponent into attacking a fake, while you go in for the killing blow. So they are not "surrounded" by blackbirds. They are binding the birds together with their Ninja powers to create an illusionary double. the closest thing Sasuke has to being "bird related" is his Chidori, which is a lightning attack that gives off the sound of what is described as a thousand black birds.
Magnus is cool, calm, and wise, yes. He has to be considering his line of work, and avoiding getting caught by the "Hunter". His goal is survival and to complete his tasks and mission. He is not out to find revenge for his lost family and clan. He does not seek to kill.
Sasuke can be calculating and observational before a fight, but he is also arrogant, overconfident, hateful, and hell bent on revenge under that skin. He is determined that he HAS to win, and once he is in a fight, he lets his emotions rule him, and he is too easily manipulated into making risky moves and mistakes that generally cost him and his friends/teammates. He chose to abandon his home and friends in pursuit of power, all to beat and kill his older brother.
If I wanted to tweak things to create some sort of clone of a currently existing character, I very well could. But I don't, because I want to create my own characters. There are many characters out there that have similarities to others. It is because we have all known people, heard stories, or seen things that inspired us. In fact, even characters from Naruto were inspired by older stories and lore from Japanese history, and even other manga writers and artists. You think Sasuke really is the first of his kind to ever be written or developed in a story? The "Cool Genius" is an overplayed character trope in a lot of hero and action stories. If anything, Sasuke is just another number in a long line of heroes and antiheroes that have been created, and I will say Magnus is just as well one of them too. But still, he is my creation and I love his design, and he stands alone in his own genre and role.
If that displeases you, then too bad. If you don't like it, then you don't have to look at it. You can just move on to something you do enjoy, and take pleasure in whatever it is.

I do love this OC. It is an interesting concept. As an artist about to undergo of the first chapter of a sonic fan-comic, I have some suggestions if you don't mind on your character.
Design wise, everything seems to be great except in one detail. I tend to reference both the games and the sonic comics as a resource, The Babylon Rogues were rogues of finding the garden first before the bird battlia does. Their common feature in their design that made them stand out is that they have flame patterns on their arms. You can do something to make that on his character purple flames, sharp and easy to see. Consider research in the comics to open infinite of source possibilities in your fan-fiction. You don't have to, it's up to you ^^ thank you.

Believe me, I have done alot of research in my many years for all the fandoms I am a part of when developing fan characters, and especially Master Magnus, I did take the designs of the Babylon Rogues into account, from both their origins in the Sonic games to their portrayals in the Archie comics. I determined that what was described as "Flame Tattoos" on their arms by SEGA, this was something that was unique to the Rogues alone, as part of their exclusive gang. To be a member of their Babylon Rogues, you will wear the tattoos.
This theory also ties in as to why only the Rogues have the flame tattoos. All other birds in the Games and Comics do not sport the flames, and this ranges from the Battle Bird Armada from the game "Tails Adventure", to all the various birds born from the Comics. None of them have the flames.
Magnus, despite being a fellow Babylonian (Bird), was not part of the gang, and thus, I decided not to give him the flame tattoos. Instead, I wanted him to stand out on his own as something tied in with the Babylon story and "species", and as a unique character who also represented my love for the local magpies that lived around my home.
I am happy with how his design came out. He looks very refined, stoic, wise and confident. So, my advice to you is if you are developing characters for a story, take these finer details into account with their development. Unless you want to directly make a character a member of the Babylon Rogues, it may be best to avoid the arm flame tattoos.

Chase wants to make the Babylonians the way they were before they where scattered, honorable thieves who avoided confrontation.
Theft, Chases ancestor, believes that the Babylonians alien heritage makes them superior to all other races and wants to revive them as conquers to enslave or destroy everyone else. And unfortunately he's not some feeble old man who's spent the last few thousand years in a cryo-tank.

That is pretty close to how Magnus and the Hunter differ, except Magnus is seearching for the descended heir of the king of Babylon so that they can restore Babylon, While the Hunter wants to kill the heir and claim the key so that he can be king and rule with tyranny.

The thing that makes Theft so dangerous is that he was trapped in a parallel dimension before Babylon fell, he witnessed many important events in history but didn't age a day. He was also watching everyone and studying them to the smallest detail, he knows their fears and weaknesses like the back of his hand. Combine all that with the fact that he's willing to do whatever it takes (murder, torture, rape, genocide) means that he has a major advantage. The only person I can think off who's more dangerous than Theft is Enerjak.

I think my character, Ares the Hunter, would be on par with the level of sadistic pleasure he takes in his indiscriminate killing and acts of deprave and violence. However...in my proffesional opinion, the background you currently have developed for your nemesis is a little too OP.
If he already knows all the fears, weaknesses and such, this leads us to believe that he also knows every strength and ability of his targets and foes, and he can predict their every move. This kind of knowledge creates a character that is too good and near "perfect" to believe. There needs to be flaws that would leave a disadvantage. Even Enerjak had flaws allowing the heroes to gain an advantage.
For example; my nemesis Ares has heightened sight and sense of smell that helps with his hunting abilities. He is strong, and has a lot of stamina, but he is tall and slow. He is also a berserker, which is a strength and a flaw. His rage increases his strength and speed for a short time, but it shortens his stamina, and causes him to only focus on a single target, leaving him vulnerable to attack from others around him.
He also has knowlede of Magnus' abilities, associates, and is well aware of the fear he strikes into his nemesis amd victims, but he doesn't know about all their details.

I suppose comparing Theft to Enerjak was a bit of an exaggeration, I was comparing how dangerous he is rather than raw power.
And Theft does have weaknesses: He's a strategist not an improviser, when something doesn't go to plan he becomes desperate and attempts delaying tactics like kidnapping while he comes up with a new scheme. He also thinks that since he knows everything about his opponents he can predict how they will react to different situations, all you have to do to trip him up is do something unexpected.
