Artist's Notes: Commission done for . This is the Irizima which, like the Mirage Dragon from my last upload, is a member of the retrosaur clade. Retrosaurs on Great Lakes Earth are a group of varanids that coincidentally resemble outdated depictions of dinosaurs, ranging from the lumbering behemoths of Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins to the scaly raptors of Jurassic Park, and are the primary megafauna of this world's jungles, especially Africa. Irizimas specifically are amphibious herbivores that resemble the Crystal Palace Iguanodon. The largest species of Irizima is the Coast Irizima which stands 17 feet tall at the shoulder and weighs 22 short tons. You can tell that the specimen depicted here is male from its nasal horn. For inspiration I looked at some frugivorous and bulky looking monitor lizards including the Northern Sierra Madre Forest Monitor, Rock Monitor, and the Earless Monitor Lizard.
