Sawfly Larva and Hexi

Not a caterpillar...but a larva of the Elm Sawfly. This variety is North America's largest....with a gorgeous blue stripe running down the back with small matching blue dots along both sides of it's body.The adult will be a blackish/purple creature, often mistaken as wasps or even bees.
Although I'm not a sawfly fan, these larva are just amazing in their specteral beauty.
This one is curled up on the underside of a Hexigonal-pored Polypore fungus.

This is beautiful. Grubs are revolting indeed, but when you look and see how intricately made each of these tiny life forms is, you cant help but be awed.

from the colors someone could asume its rare or something. but even if thats not true the shot you took of it certainly is rare. very good shot and it looks cute curled up like that ^_^

Olypmus IR500...only a 4.0mpx
the view screen pops open so u don't have to have u'r face in front of the camera to see what u'r focusing on..very handy (for macros...the full size views suck though)
