Description There was a pressing need for a tut like this. So I stepped up... drop me a link if any good comes of this.
Oh, and thanks for the many other tutorials that taught me enough to develop my own techniques..

EDIT:
August, 2008
Why on Earth did I cuss so much? I was such a vulgar 13 year old when I made this. hehe.

Woah. Okay, had a try of this This is way better than some of the other comet tuts I've seen! Not that I've seen all that are to be seen mind you, but this produces much more believable comets. Looks great, thanks for posting the tutorial (yeah I know, like 3 years ago... I'm just getting into this stuff now...)

At around ten o'clock pm, I finally got around to surfing the Internet, and ultimatlyDeviantart. Apparently, it was a slow day for my fellow Deviants and I scanned through the various Deviations my D-fiends, er, friends had uploaded.

After perusing all that was offered for me to look at, I only selected the works that were the best the deviant had to offer for today. Yours was one of them, even though you only subitted a single work.

I was very exited to look at this Comet Tutorial, as I had never seen a tutorial like this before. The set up and the instructions are easy to understand, so that even a novice like me can follow along without much hassle and cursing.

For me, the most interesting and fun thing about this tutorial, is that you can probably apply the same concept to energy attacks, missiles, and perhaps even simplify it down to small glowing creatures (or things) and afterglow on magical/energy based melee weapons.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this tutorial very much.

A definate fav.

The thing about this is I tried harder to word and explain it than I did to make it.
I worked on referencing things previously used, and encouraging people to learn where functions are.. and that it helped you means alot, my two hours were not wasted.

I enjoyed the ideas you had there. I think that I may adapt my work into something you've put me on the track of, so to speak.

If you've enjoyed this, I'll be sure to help out the community again if I ever stumble across a new technique. The fav and detailed comment you gave made my work more than worth it.

No problem. I'm always happy to look at tutorials, for knowledge is power, especially when I'm planning on becoming a graphic designer.

I'm very happy that you considered adapting my ideas into your work and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have to offer.

And I was glad to leave a comment that is longer than what is usually seen on DA. I was in a writing mood already, and when I saw this, I felt that it needed an above average comment from yours truly.

Welp, I'm off to practice making comets. Maybe I'll put one in one of my lame backgrounds and hope it turns out okay. I'll make sure to direct people to your page so maybe you'll get some more page hits. Those are always nice.
