A lot of it is prophecy, but do you know of what? Of what time, past, or present? You need to know these things, if you want to understand it.
Jesus said the two most important commandments were, to love God & have no other god's & to love one another. Where is "God want's to kill us all" in that? He said, that 'no greater love has any man than to lay down his life for a friend'. 'Let he who has not sinned, throw the first stone'.

The original Greek, was Koine Greek, it is different than your Greek of today. If you have questions, are you not interested in them being answered? I have found an answer to any & every question I have had of God's Word.

Maybe you can read ancient Greek, koine Greek, I don't know, but i do know that for me to learn koine Greek, it don't help me much to learn the modern Greek.
Hahaha, I am still asking questions, and still finding answers I tell those who WANT to know. I don't believe in 'pushing' anything on anyone. If people ask, I tell them what I know. Or, if someone misunderstands something in the Bible, I can explain to them what is really being said. A lot of people believe their are contradictions, I find there are none. I help them with that.
I can't MAKE anyone believe in God, and I would never try to force anyone. All I can do is tell them what God is like, what He wants, what He has planned for us, why He sent Jesus, what Jesus did & why, etc, then it is up to them, they can believe, or not.
I talk to a lot of people online, I talk to people offline too. But I have my studies, so I have to keep time for them also (otherwise I might not pass ). I finish my degree at the end of this month, so I will have more time then maybe to talk to more.

That's the thing I always wonder about. Why the Bible needs to be explained? Well, to tell the truth some important parts of the Bible don't need to be explained. The same thing applies to almost every religious text.Anyway...
It was great talking to you even though our opinions are different and it's too bad we're continents apart because I would love to debate with you. Thank you for being polite and civil, many people that have the same beliefs with you tend to be aggressive as they don't seem to be able to understand my positions and the way I deliver them

I have had people say to me, that the Bible is stupid because in the Old Testament, it calls a bat, a bird. What they don't realize, is that, back then, they did not have our modern day species classification, so everything that flew, was called a bird, insects were called 'crawling things', etc. Some people just don't get it, so you have to explain it for them. I had one guy go o about David, where it says David loved Jonathan & gave him his girdle, this guy thought this was hilarious and called them gay. What he did not know was that the 'girdle' was a leather belt that held your sword at your hip & your bow across your back. David was a prince, so it would have been finely made, and a precious gift. You have to know about the people and the culture.
I would enjoy that also, face to face is much better than online, sitting near the sea, with a couple of drinks and a relaxed chat, would be great, but, sadly, there is too much distance. But thanks to the internet, we have met, when we might never have.
We should be able to be polite and civil, where does arguing get you? You come across to me as well educated, and easy going guy. I agree with you, aggressive, angry, pushy people don't learn anything, they just get angry & make others angry. Mate, they don't see your points, because, they don't WANT to! They are only interested in their own.
What's the weather like in beautiful Greece at the moment?

We are talking about the god-inspired manual for christian life, perfect in every way?It is written that even Jesus himself said so as "He didn't come to change the Law, but to fulfill it" thus accepting every single part of it. This things shouldn't be there. But let's just leave all the religion related stuff aside. Let's just think about it in ways of common sense. If I sent you an email and I told you many good stuff about yourself and how great you are but in that same email you cound find parts that I was condtradicting myself by calling you something bad, what would you think about me? So, yes...no wonder it's falling apart.

I'm a Christian and while I respect the artist I don't really care for the his opinions on the Christian faith, but even saying that I still know that the bible was written by man and man is fallible. So I do find it hard to believe in everything that is in the bible. I use the stories in the bible as a guideline on how I should live my life and do not blindly believe those stories to be completely factual.

Do I need to point out certain things? Go read the whole thing because obviously you haven't but if you trully need a pointer go ahead and read the Leviticus. You can also do research online and find out hilarious stuff like talking donkies, unicorns and a story about a 600 year old guy named Noah with his incest family in a ship full of animals shoveling endless amount of shit out of a tiny window. Seriously.

Incest? With Noah? You need to read, they all brought they're wives with them.
And if you mean incest with Adam and Eve's children, then think on this. The gene pool was pure back then.
And also, the whole talking donkey thing, this is from a book that said God made the heavens and the earth, I think God could pretty much do whatever He wants.

When religions try and make science and common sense fit but there are still people that believe in the Bible what can I say...Your mind will never change because you simply can't stand the possibility of being wrong

ThatDarnFoxCreations In reply to Sc1r0n [2011-11-07 22:34:43 +0000 UTC]
Actually, in order not to burn in Hell, all you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ is God's one and only begotten Son, and that he died on the cross for your sins.
Truly, would it actually hurt you or science to believe this or anything else from the Bible?
Also, it's not about me not standing to be wrong, it's about that whole burning in Hell thing that I'm worried about.
I mean, are you willing to be so against the possibility of being wrong, you stake so much for it?

Sc1r0n In reply to ThatDarnFoxCreations [2011-11-08 08:01:55 +0000 UTC]
It depends on what denomination of Christianity you're in. In some, if you sin there's no way back. You ask me what would hurt to believe in the Bible? A lot. I don't believe that parents should kill their children if they argue against them nor I believe that a rappist should marry his victim as a punishment.
Look, I come from a highly religious background, I studied many religion and I was an excellent student in Theology classes. I could easily become a Theologian but I chose not to. I realized that I can be a good moral person without God. I have friends that are believers and of course we argue about religion as I'm doing now with and we know we're not going to change each others minds right? But me and my friends are still friends, religious beliefs come second to our friendship.
You see, God,religion, belief systems, holy books are all there for the people that choose to believe in them. Others, like me are looking for answers in a whole different way. People choose to live their life behind the safety and ignorance of religion, I don't.

Sorry, but you missed the important question here, would it hurt you to have Christ enter your heart and save you from eternity in Hell? I mean He's out there for you and me man.
Also, being Christian has nothing to do with what denomination or religion your in, it's a belief. That all were born in sin but Christ and that with His death and his acceptation into our hearts, we are saved.
A Catholic who doesn't believe in Christ is doomed. While a street bum who does will be saved. It's all about Jesus.

I believe you are missing the important thing here. You ask me if it would hurt me to believe in Jesus? The answer is YES. Why? Because I don't believe there is Hell and I don't believe there's Heaven.I have no need of God and no fear in my heart. If you choose to believe in fear of eternal hell fire, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. If you choose to follow any religion just because for their moral values, that's a whole other thing but you can do that even without God.
And actualy, no, it's not all about Jesus. For example, if you believe in Jesus, be a good Christian all your life but then you just make the mistake of doubting the Spirit even for a split second in your life, you are doomed and there's no coming back.
Look, if you choose to believe in Christ the least you can do is read the book on which his Church was founded on, because if you think that the ten commandments are all there is to follow, sadly you're mistaken. I know that it's a huge and time consuming thing to do but believe me, it's worth it. I'm not telling you to read any Atheist document or anything else that you would consider to be a propaganda against you or your beliefs. Read the Bible, read it carefully and ask questions for the things that you won't understand, because believe me my friend you're going to have some serious questions afterwards and most of them will consider the morality and solidity of the book that started everything

You won't be saved by the commandments nor good works nor anything else but Christ. One of the single most important verses in the Bible is John 3:16. The rest is all about living a life as a Christian.
I really don't think you've read the Bible at all.

Ok, so go out, rape somebody, repent, believe in Christ and heaven awaits. Seriously now, you believe you can be saved by just believing? You're mistaken in thinking that I haven't read the Bible because contrary to you, I've studied the original Greek and Hebrew. You cherry pick one verse while I have a hundrend to prove you wrong.Does it matter? No.
Because you are not ready to listen or ask questions. You are scared to be wrong. You shouldn't be. That's no way to live.

That was God's judgment for the people sinning. That's like asking if the person that was drunk driving the car killed the person, or of the car killed the person. The car is God and the person is sin. Because the peoples sin, the consequences are that they died, whether they died of old age, or whether they died of God sending burning meteors. Just because death came earlier does not mean that death wasn't going to happen.
Part of the reason the Bible says "All have sinned" is because the consequence of sin is death, and everyone dies.

It's like the abusive relationship trap. When he hits you, it was your own fault for not listening, and he does 'love' you, so it's alright. While you cower in fear, too afraid to leave him, because he might kill you/your loved ones/family. Only instead of people understanding why you finally purchase a gun to protect yourself, they hate on you, call you names, and then consider you inhuman.

Well, here in Greece we have the most famous mount "Athos" which is kinda like the Vatican. But there, no woman is allowed to enter because they're considered to be impure and might drag the monks into a filthy path of siiiiin . If a woman enters, she's cursed for the rest of her life and in some cases God will smite her on spot (God in that case is like a sniper shooting curses from above)
