Description
I know its only six months late, but I have finally gotten around to completing the winning entry from the following journal: [link]I try to be apt, you see..
This is a redux of the thrid piece I submitted here on dA: Hellena Undone. You can view that piece here if you like: [link]
I see two years can make a bit of a difference. My apologies to those who were waiting for this for a while. I hope it's better late than never.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy...

I can see that your art has evolved, and I like this piece alot, but I'm hard pressed to tell you which of the two I like better. I think they are both very well done.

Wow... To be honest, I like them both just as much.
You've evolved a lot
I wish I could say more, but ~radiationboyy have said it all, or as we say in Sweden "satt huvudet pƄ spiken"; put the head on the nail XD
Atleast I think so. o.O *tired and can't think straight*

Thank you Miss Morbida. It's sad though, as more time passes, the evolution is slower and slower. I look at something I did a year ago and wonder if I'm that much better now.. Weird..
Thank you for your kind words, as alway. I can't think either... HUGE headache!

Well, your style have changed a bit. I don't think it's worse, but I also like your work from before. You've just evolved or something! hehe
And I'm glad you like my words

You GOTTA teach me how you do those tones and textures. I'm sick of doing it by hand. It gets so messy *pouts*.
This rocks.

ScabbedAngel In reply to RyoRya [2006-12-08 23:01:52 +0000 UTC]
This one was just watercolors... a heavy water base, and once that dried, I dry brushed over it with black paint to make the detailed strokes.
It was messy. lol...
Thanks Miss Rya.

Really? Thanks man, I was worried that the grittiniess might have been too much. I'm glad you like it.

I'm sorry I'm not as constructive in my comments as you deserve it, but I think it's beautiful, and the other piece is too, but I see the change and it's for the best.. ^^

Wonderful style, suggestively posed, the curve of the back makes a wonderful focus, and the face has great character.
This makes a great follow up piece!

You know (Yes, I'm full of compliments I am)...one thing I've noticed that really sticks out for me from these new pieces of yours (I'm sorry I haven't commented yet - work consumes me ), is the fact that your digital art mimics your traditional style.
Obvious, I know - but what I really mean is that the same atmospheric effects and colour details that you achieve so well in digital pieces, is never lacking in your traditional pieces...and that is an accomplishment on its own.
Hehehe, six months late as you say nevertheless it was worth the wait. Nice touch how you've changed the pose completely from the original.

I'd lie if I said they weren't enhanced a bit in PS, and I did add a slight photo texture I've been experimenting with lately. I do appreciate that man... I can't seem to chose a side. There are things in digital art that would be near impossible to do with tradional means... and yet there is a breathtakingly organic quality to a traditional piece that I feel is likewise near impossible to replicate with digital means. No brush in PS or Painter can accomplish what a real one can, I feel. I suppose it is only human nature to explore technology to enhance a natural means... I'm stuck in the middle. I have to say, that doing these recent ones, it feels good to be doing traditional again. My preferences swing like a pendulum, but I love elements of each. For the mess and pain in the ass elements that there can be to traditional, I have to say in the end it is truly worth it. I'd lie, or be dishonestly humble if I said I weren't proud... Sorry to blabber on and on and such, your comments usually tend to evoke thoughts... I really do think you are trying to make me kill my wrists...
Seriously, thanks man. A day you comment is always a happy day for me. And no worries about be busy. God knows there's never been a time I'm left dA for months at a time or anything.. Right? Right?!

No problem man! Talking about art is always good stuff...so long comments like this always make my heart jump - seriously, I'm so used to getting short comments that are to the point, but don't offer any questions to be asked.
Oh yes, I remember your absense! - you've really hit the ground running upon your return...you've been getting so many new pieces up lately.
