Description For

Just a little something I started working on yesterday/Monday. It was an idea I had in mind after seeing these two pictures from fav.me/d726pnu and fav.me/d72egkr and it seemed like a nice relaxing piece. I was pretty out of sorts on Monday and still not feeling too hot right now. When I started my grandfather went to the hospital and he passed away soon afterward. We've never been a close family exactly, but it's still stressful and hard. It was nice to have a calm picture to work on right now : )

Sorry to hear about your grandfather :< I had a very similar experience when my grandmother passed away, we were not very close either but it still makes you think a lot.

Yeah, I think it's the mortality aspect and the regrets. With my depression I hadn't talked to him much and was only just starting to get back into it. So I suppose it's better that I got a couple of conversations in better than none at all, I still wish I could have known him known him more. Nothing can change the fact I know, regrets and I just happen to do a nasty dance with each other *sweat*

Thank you : ) for the compliments and kind words. I wasn't sure if I wanted to mention the story behind the picture or not, but everyone has been so nice and it helps as well.

I think I'll try more sculpture-esque pieces later on, I really love the look of a well done sculpture, but I just don't have the ability or space to try out actual sculpture.

There is always sculpey clay. It requires little space and only 40-50 minutes in the oven. It's not so bad and it doesn't have to be a big sculpture. And if not that, you could always paint it on a rock? C:Β

I've wanted to try sculpey, but I think I'm too particular to use it just yet. I can work well with larger pieces of sculpture (comparatively speaking) but when it comes to the daintier work in combination with my perfectionism...let's just say that it's an equation for four letter words in copious amounts X3

Thank you, as sad as it is, in a way, it's a gift to be inspired by it. I can have a lot of trouble keeping up the urge to draw at times so it was nice to so easily settle in to something.

Thank you : D Rubi gave me some tips on shading so I kept them in mind while working on this. I still think I need to be bolder, but I'm getting there <3

And thank you, I am it'll still be hard until the wake/funeral are complete, but the shock is dying off. That or I'm more emotionally distant than I give myself credit forΒ  *rubs neck* guess we'll see X3

Hm... well if that helps my grandmother died a year ago (I've seen her twice a year or so) and that didn't bother for long so maybe it's just... normal?

It could be normal, yeah. When someone doesn't impact your life on a daily basis it's hard to miss them as much when the initial shock died down. I saw my Grandfather even less than that too.
