"Oh my god. Oh my GOD, what did I do last night?" Lavender groans, cradling her face in her hands. There's a few empty beer bottles scattered around the room. Thomas smiles dryly at her.

"Good morning. How's your head?" He can't help but sneer. This is who he was afraid of? This hungover mess?

"Shut up. What time is it?" She looks at the clock. She can't read it.

"It's ten. Are you making breakfast today?" Thomas chimes in.

"I should make you do it," she grumbles. The boy shrugs his shoulders, pulling at the ropes binding his arms.

"I'd try, but I don't think you'll untie me."

"Whatever." She gets to her feet and leaves the room, then comes back with a box of PopTarts. She unwraps one and starts feeding it to Thomas. It's humiliating, but he won't argue with her when she's grumpy. After a few minutes of silence, she gets this sour look on her face.

"Thomas, what did I say?" She sounds disturbed. Thomas hadn't heard her go quiet like that before. Should he tell her? She was letting everything fall out of her mouth last night. He worries that if she remembers what she said to him, he'll be punished.

"You told me about Maritza." Thomas says softly.

"What did I say?" she demands, with an edge to her voice. She stands abruptly, almost toppling over. Thomas recoils.

"Y-you just told me that she was your sister and-and she died in a car crash and- I'm sorry, Lavender, I'm sorry for what happened."

She looks like she wants to lash out, like she wants to hurt him, but she just stares at him for a moment before sitting back down. She takes a PopTart and eats it moodily, avoiding Thomas's apologetic eyes. He feels awful for her! He thought he hated her because she did horrible things to him, but now that he knows more about her past, he doesn't know what to think.

"I didn't mean to hit a sore spot. If you're not over it and you need to talk..." Thomas trails off when she glowers at him. He looks away. Lavender sighs and takes another bite.

"You're a sweet kid, Thomas. But you need to stay away from me. Stay out of all of it. I appreciate your kindness, but leave me alone. Please." Her ice cold voice scares him. She finishes feeding him and unties one of the ropes around his shoulders, allowing him at least a little freedom.

"Better?" she asks. Thomas nods. She gets up and leaves.

For the rest of the day, Lavender only visits him periodically, just to feed him or let him go to the bathroom. She doesn't talk to him, even if Thomas tries to initiate conversation. He's still trying to figure her out. Maybe she is human after all. Maybe she only acts like a monster because she's been broken before. It's hard to tell.

Aww, Thomas still has hopes that if he's nice, she'll let him go! He has so much faith in Lavender.
