Fafnir

Also Known As: Dragon Snake, Father of Monsters

Fafnir is the oldest known natural Kaiju, older than Mishipishew, Tzeltal and Iriz Ima by quite a few decades. Actually mentioned in an old legend, though he was not killed as was thought, and must have been very young and thus much smaller. As told in the legend, his blood gave one the ability to speak to animals and bestowed great strength. While his blood does have the second effect, the latter has never happened in humans (though the reverse effect has manifested (See: Weewilmeqk.)

Fafnir is known as the Father of Monster because his blood is the base for the HSGH formula-without it, monsters like Garm, Valdesaurus and Grugyan would not exist (and, unfortunately, Weewilmeqk). For reasons not entirely understood, Fafnir's blood can be used to bestow this strength to other beings while Mizzy and Iriz Ima's will not. This is also why so many created Kaiju have blue flesh (Grugyn's green being the result of tampering with the genes to make things grow faster.) Fafnir himself isn't too bothered with any of his "Offspring": the only thing that irritated him was the gathering of his blood, where the huge dragon snake was pierced by a specially made spear of titanium and diamond, hidden in a pit trap and sprung when he slithered over it.

He was very annoyed, falling for the same trick twice, and torched the countryside before being hit with ISSS, a then experimental ramped up version of pepperspray that had been specifically formulated to drive off Kaiju, since trying to fight with conventional military had always failed. Fortunately, it worked the way they had hoped, and the dragon slunk back off to his cave, hissing and snarling at the stinging in his eyes. Unfortunately, though the field test was successful, ISSS would be used sparingly-it sometimes simply pissed off the monster instead of driving it off.

Fafnir isn't a very excitable monster, preferring to hibernate for very long stretches of time before emerging to eat and sunbathe before going back to sleep. Because of this, not much is known about how he would interact with other Kaiju.
