Description OOAK (one of a kind) friesian sculpture named Abyss.

Abyss is about 11 or 12 inches tall to the tip of his horn. He was made from scratch from super sculpey over wire and foil. He has inset purple resin eyes, and his hair is tibetan lamb fur.

I've made a few friesians before but it was a new challenge to do a rearing one. Actually I haven't done a rearing horse in a while so this was fun.

He is not for sale, he was a trade/ commission from someone on another forum.

So pretty... I wonder how you were able to balance him on two legs? Or do you use the tail as a "leg" too? I've tried to make rearing horses before but they always fall over

Thank you! Yeah the tailbone goes all the way to the ground so it balances. With rearing horses you pretty much have to have them standing straight up, so that their bodies are vertical. If they are tilted forward they fall. If you don't want to do the thing with the tail, you can add an extra support on the back legs and cover it over with feathering. hope that helped!

Ahh no, I've been the same. I just did a lot over the holidays. University is good, the semester is off to a good start. I was struggling a lot last year so it's a nice turn around. I hope things are going ok with you

Surviving day by day...trying to take care of my son who has been sick, he is out of school because of it. I am trying to work a little each day with art tho and it is good for me, it forces me to think. Glad to hear school is good, and I can't wait to see more of your art!
